API SG/SH question

My car`s owner`s manual specs API SG/SH rated oil. I know this is an ancient rating. Just out of curiosity,what did the add pack of these oils look like? To me,1996 doesn`t seem like that long ago,but by oil technology standards I guess it was.

I'm no expert, but I believe that was about the time oils began to make serious qualitative jumps forward. Wasn't SJ the beginning of Group II, II+ usage in oil?

I think SH is when they first started to limit ZDDP

For SH:

Phosphorus = 0.12% max
Noack = 25% max

It`d be interesting to see voa`s of SG/SH oils and compare them to the same brand and weights in their current SN formulas.

I've got a sample in stock, QS from the taxi days. I will be sending some VOAs and used oil analysis out for kicks one of these days.
