The old Volvo I picked up recently was repainted not long ago and has orange peel all over. I wet sanded the roof by hand with 1500 which was a start, but still had much orange peel left. Used one of these polishing discs next with a DA polisher, and it got it a little smoother but still have the valleys of the orange peel visible. Do you try to eliminate all the orange peel before polishing? Not sure I want to do another pass and risk burning through the clear, but if there is still some orange peel, is there much risk?

Back in my USCG days we used a jitterbug sander for wet sanding. We used the same on a couple of vehicles preparing them for new paint.

I would think a jitterbug would be a better sander to use over a DA rotary.
