Just curious if anyone has used this combo, and how everything worked out. Im going to be installing one when I service my father in law's new-to-him 99 F350 Super Duty tomorrow. I like the M1 filters and figured this one would be great in his truck. (Also using Rotella T6 5-40)

I was a little off-put when reading his manual which stated to use ONLY the FL1995 filter. I'm not sure if that's just manufacturer's protectionism talk, or if there is actually some issue with some aftermarket filters with this motor.

Thanks for any input guys!

I have been using the M1 601 and RTS 5W-40 for my last 2yrs, which is exactly 4 OCI... Once before summer and once before winter... with nothing but good results...I haven't done a UOA with this combo too prove anything, but my 7.3L idles and runs quiet and smooth...Until around the 5K mile mark, then tells me the oil is getting beat up... I can tell by the way it runs...Time for fresh oil & filter... My UOA with the Amsoil filters @ the 4K mile mark always come back with stellar results...

U can't go wrong with the combo U chose...

Sweet! I feel all warm and fuzzy now! Is 5k really the drain interval for these bad boys? I figured it would be longer considering the 14qts (and nearly $100!!!) of oil. What is the normal and severe service schedule for ocis w the PSD?

Just got done with the change and all went well. It was my first diesel oil change, and with the gallon jugs of oil I didnt bother to prefill the filter as there wasn't enough space to do it under the truck, and I knew I would spill it if I filled it then tried to crawl under there with it. I just about started to freak when I started the truck up and the oil pressure gauge didn't budge for a few seconds! Right as I really started to worry I goofed something up the gauge shot up and all was well.

It took about 14.5 qts and I left it just a smidgen below the full mark.
