I've been "kind of" following these guys since they came out and love how they matched classic with modern instruments. However, I noticed they were coming to Oklahoma City on Saturday at 1500 on 12/22. Kept thinking about it, then last night I found some videos on line of them and let my 4 year old watch it with me. I asked her and explained the whole concert idea to her, well the best I could in a language understandable by a 4 year old, and she said she wanted to go. She really likes music as I have my guitar, piano and drums in the makeshift recording studio I have set up at my house, she often plays them to some degree. But she is aware of them. My thought process is if I can just absolutely WOW here with something like this, hopefully it will start a fire inside her to want to learn how to really play. My Dad did something similar with me but I was a little older and it has stuck in my brain all these years.
Anyway, is this show pretty good? Enough to keep a 4 year old enlightned and not bored for about two hours??? I just bought the tickets. It's at the Ford Center, which is a arena, so shouldn't be no more than about 15K people there, tops.

The best ticket money you will ever spend. Great lights and effects, sound is unbelievably crisp. Depends how much the 4 year old likes music.

It's a good show, but not the kind of stuff that will keep a 4 year old entertained.

It's also very loud, and small children have very sensitive hearing.

If this were my daughter, I would not take her.

I already got ear muffs for her. She actually wore them for a couple of hours already so I don't think that would be a problem.
I figure with all the lighting effects and music, what wouldn't keep a 4 year old entertained?

There is a reason all the kiddie shows like Disney on Ice are NOT 2 hours long!

Like I've said, I would not take my 4 year old. My daughter is 9 and I'd still not take her.

She's your kid. Does she enjoy "complex" music? Or does she only watch Hannah Montana?

10 year old might get bored.

Actually, she does. She's really into ballet and takes dance classes twice a week. She just about has the Nutcracker memorized. She just seems to have an affinity for music. I mean, she'll be playing and a commercial on TV would come on with a catchy song and she'll drop everything she's doing just to listen. She could care less about Hannah or anybody else. It seems the music captivates her and I'm trying to ping on to that. The volume does have me concerned though. Just because she will wear the muffs don't mean she actually will. I've already started gearing her up for it. The show is divided into two parts. I figure if I can at least get one part in, it would be worth it of the impression that it would leave. Plus, it's a Saturday and starts at 1500, 3 days before Christmas. Believe me, I know it's a risk, but for some reason, I got a warm "fuzzy" feeling about it.

Just to let ya'll know, she did make it. Barely. After about an hour she got restless. She really liked it and I did as well. Cool light show. If that doesn't get you into the Christmas spirit, nothing will.

Thanks Al for that clip. Not all that internet savy but wow, sure a lot of their videos on youtube, a lot of everything actually. We must have had the other band, because those chicks were not there singing Saturday night. I noticed they were actually playing the same time at two different venues. I guess the band splits in two because that type of music is only good for a particular time. Got to get it when the getting is good I reckon.

I hear they've doubled the size of the light show from last year. Also, a buck from every ticket sold goes to a local charity where the concert is held.

The lights were...simply....AMAZING!! There were times the 4 year old said they were too bright.
