What year and vehicle?

According to the data I have, you are not to use any oil weight greater than 30 weight (about 10.5 cSt) in any VVT or cylinder deactivaton engine.

For example, my '08 TrailBlazer with the 5.3L specifies nothing but 30 weights such as 0W30's through 10W30's.

I run it in my non VVT Ford Modulars. Great UOA's, no appreciable loss in fuel economy. I think it's a great oil for 1/2 tons when pulling heavy loads. I know a guy who uses it in a 2000 Silverado w/5.3 and loves it, though I don't have the details on it or his OCI. I have given him some Blackstone jars before and I don't believe he has ever turned in a sample. This was based on my recommendation. It's not that I am against using a Xw20/30, it's just I have had great, consistent UOA's with T6 5W40 on extended OCI's. Since you live in Canada, you can easily get the 0w40 for winter. As others have said about this oil, use with confidence (for this particular application that is).

i am running it in a 01 tahoe for the last 10k, no issues. i have run other 40weights in it also with know problems.

some 5.3L,6.0L,4.8L's use oil with high mileage. 40 weight slows it down alot In my case. mike

I'm tempted to run it in a 4.0 Ranger tho.....

Can you help me understand how this post, in any remote way, contributed to, or answered the question in the post?

I would double check the engine displacement Michael---2000 Silvero came with the 'old' 5.7

The 2000 Silvy came with the LS engines, so he is correct saying 5.3L. 1999 was the last year for the 5.7 in the 1500 series. They sold the C/K 1500 alongside the new trucks, only for a short period though.
