I was in Arizona and rented a 2025 Toyota Rav4 from Budget rental agency. There were tons of people in Budget line to rent cars. It took an hour to finally get my rental and keys. Just as customer service hands me the keys she announces there’s no more rental cars available because not enough people have returned their rental. About 20 people behind me very upset and fuming.😠🤬

I noticed the Sixt car rental was pretty empty. I know they have more upscale vehicles.

Anybody rent from Sixt ?

I rented from them once about ten years ago in Florida and remember having an absolutely terrible experience. The customer service people were very rude and we had to wait over an hour to get a car even though they weren’t that busy. I never rented from them ever again.

rented it in vegas last year . its was ok . they have lots of euro cars and high end ones in Vegas. as usual they tried to upsell ,but overall nothing special .

Unless you are a member of the VIP (what ever each company calls that) club the customer service level to rent vehicles is very poor. I have read too many horror stories of the company you mentioned to ever consider renting from them.
YMMV.
My son works for a major company in Virginia. They rent cars all the time. He works from home in Idaho. The company flys him back to corporate on a regular basis. He had a company car reservation and there were no vehicles for him. I suspect corporate got on the phone after they learned of the situation and probably chewed the rental car agency out. I don't know if it made make a difference.

Yes. Twice in Europe. I will never rent from them again. Both time they would contact me after the fact and claim damage, tank less than full, or that I got a parking ticket. When I’d ask for evidence, they’d blow me off and say that they aren’t required to present it and that they were going to charge my credit card. The desk would call, a manager would call, etc. multiple times. I told them that if they have a valid claim that they can charge my card because I have insurance through my credit card but if it was invalid, I told them I’d come over and liberate them from their earthly bounds. They never charged my card. Friggen scammy Europeans.

We rented from them the last time we went to Florida (Tampa.)
Ended up with them because that was the best price by far (and actually the only place that had cars available on the date we needed it.)
We got there and they told us that the Mercedes we were supposed to have was out, but that they would "Upgrade" us to a Volvo.
Remember that the Volvo was dirty, the 12v outlets didn't work, and the stop/start was horrible in that it stalled out several times upon restarting (and almost got us creamed once when it stalled.)
Other than that, no issues.

The product was garbage... but other than that it was ok. That makes sense.

Lots of times. Most times I’ve gotten an upgrade. Last year on spring break vacation we were upgraded free to a brand new bmw x5. No complaints.

I rented from Sixit for the first time last Christmas out of Ohare Airport in Chicago. They were the only outfit that had cars when I reserved a few months ahead of time. Everything went fine and I would do it again. We rented a Toyota Corolla.

National is the best, imo. The big 3 (National, Avis, Hertz) all have grab and go for all their loyalty program members. Walk out to the lot, hop in the car you want and show your ID on the way out. No waiting in line at the counter.

I've rented a few vans in my life, all in Europe. Never had any issues, didn't have to wait in line, we both checked the condition of the vehicle before and after, and never heard from them again.

I had, but every location is different for all rental companies, some airports have good rental everywhere and others you got to stick to one company if you want a particular type (i.e. AWD in December).

I would check the local rental agent's review and I typically look at the worst review online for the airport I rent from. Recently the only company I have seen near perfect in all location is Enterprise.

Absolutely. Since joining the rewards program, I'm typically following the signs up the escalator to the appropriate floor, looking for my name on the monitor, and then loading my bags into the car. In and out in less than five minutes.

One thing to be aware of with Sixt: They may or may not be located in the same consolidated rental facility as the others. I've been to a few airports where Sixt, Fox, etc were located elsewhere and required additional (or different) shuttles to get there. It pays to know ahead of time.

often but in europe. dont know about usa. it helps if you're a member. overall: nothing worse than others.
once they charged me €15 "transaction fee" for a €5 fine. they didn't even pay it. i had to make a wire transfer to bundespolizei.
i shan't forget that sixt!
