Anyone here make their own yogurt?

Eating some yogurt right now that I made Christmas Eve. For this batch I used whole milk and let it run 24 hours. It has a tart but not overwhelmingly sour flavor and is pleasant to eat plain without any sweeteners or fruit. I strain mine through a large gold plated coffee filter and the texture is a bit thicker than store bought Greek style.

I got a nice insta pot for Christmas and can’t wait to make yogurt with it. Any tips or advice or hints from folks who make their own. Big thank you to ripcord for enlightening me on it.
Get good starter culture.
Disinfect the vessel and other tools you will use for yogurt with boiling water prior to use.
Do not add cream to make it rich.
Follow the directions that comes with your yogurt maker device.

I actually use a natto maker I got from Temu for $25 with great results (they are now around $55). You don't need special devices and can even make it in the oven.

I've been making it in an Instant pot for a couple of years. Pour in a gallon of milk, add about 3 heaping spoonfulls of good yogurt from the store, stir, push Yogurt button and put on the lid with the vent open. Super easy and much cheaper than the store. I usually use the A2 Organic from Costco (Raw is not legal here) and let it set for 48 hours to burn out as much of the carbs as possible.

Different milks will give different results. I've had some not "start" and all you get is warm milk... I wash the insert pot in the dishwasher and have never had any weird results.
