Hello folks, and do any of you folks here donate blood regularly? I have since I was 18. Used to do whole blood, now I do the double red or aspherisis machine. Just curious as I like being able to know that someone's life may be saved by my donation.

Yeah, when I found that my A+ blood type was good for plasma or something, thats when I decided to do aspherisis machine if I can get in at a decent time.

Very admirable, Tomcat.

I used to donate regularly until I developed a tumour on the back of my left eye. They killed it with radiation, but recommended I no longer donate.

Just donated for the first time back in October. I am eligible again on Christmas day. Already have my appointment for Dec. 31st.

I HATE needles, and that is why I never donated. Once I did, I just never looked at my arm and it was not bad at all. Figured that yeah I hate needles, but someone out there just went through a whole lot more pain than I have ever felt and made myself go do it.

I used to when it was a "thing" at my work. When i stepped on to the bloodmobile for the first time, I almost turned around and walked off because it was kind of beat for a place that was collecting blood. But how would that look in front of my co-w0rkers?

When I was a fit young guy, the bloodmobiles were staffed by these young women who you could tell thought they had the best job in the world when they could get a young man in their little interview room and ask him absolutely anything about his sex life and what else.

I once passed out about 10 minutes after donating blood; was in the canteen and then woke up with a ring of people around me.

For anyone who has never passed out, it is not like waking up in the morning, you have to recalibrate "where you are" and "who you are"

The nurse indicated I had some serious spasms and should think about waiting a few months before donating again. That was 1983.

I tried twice in 1987, once in the AF; the people indicated that would rather not have to deal with this type of issue.
