Anyone have a SVT Raptor with a 6.2L?

I think Ford is nuts for not offering the EcoBoost in the Raptor. Heck, the Raptors that ran in Baja were sporting EcoBoost 3.5s, crank it up to 400 HP and let 'em eat.

They did the IFS right ...

It may have drawbacks in low speed situations, but IFS is probably ideal for driving dirt roads at highway speeds. I know a lot of guys who do a lot of that sort of driving. That seems to be what the Raptor is best suited to.

It has mile wide A/T tires (so no good at all in the mud), IFS (so no good at rock crawling / no articulation in the front) drinks gas (can't commute with it) and has less load capacity than my 13 year old Jeep Cherokee so it's a poor truck too

What's the point of it again?

Running Baja which is its own kind of animal.

On the east coast I havent seen many on the beaches where folks go offroad to fish and do other things.

Ive mainly seen them at Wegmans, where people have more dollars than sense.

I do like big, offroad-design trucks, but this one is a bit extreme IMO.

The Raptor can tow 8000LBS and has a payload of 1030lbs. A 1999 Cherokee has a towing capacity of 5000LBS and a payload capacity of 1151LBS. So in Payload capacity I do not see a big difference in the towing department it is not even comparable. Bitter grapes maybe? This is a specialty pickup not for everyone. It is not for me but if someone has the money and researches its strengths and weaknesses and can live with them, buy one and be happy. I believe someone could do a slew of ill's against the world with 40K, and buying a specialty pick up is not one IMHO.

I can see the site foreman/manager at a Texas oilfield driving one of these as a commuter. Nothing like getting to a blowout quickly, and without fillings loosened.

Nice truck, if one can really use its capabilities.
