Anyone from Buffalo, NY?

Kind of an odd question but here goes.

A friend of mine totaled his work van and is buying a new one from someone on Filmore Avenue in Buffalo.

I never go into the city, I know the Southtowns and Southern-Tier like the back of my hand.

Can anyone tell me if this is a really really bad part of Buffalo to go into?

I don't know Buffalo, but I grew up in the east side suburbs of Rochester (Pittsford and Penfield). If it is anything like Rochester, the good areas of the city are immediately adjacent to the suburbs. The neighborhoods get worse the closer to the inner city you go.

You can get a pretty good idea of the area by plugging the address into google. Then get a real picture of the area. Just pan the camera 360 degrees. You can even go up and down the street a little bit. Some areas are ok by day and not safe by night fall. If you see parents with their children walking around then that's a good indicator that the area maybe safe. If he can bring a buddy with him that helps.

Go to the city of Buffalo Police website and see if they have an online crime data base. You can see if a lot of crime has taken place in that area. Esp, violent crimes, car theft etc.

redhat, I'm also a southtowner, but yeah.. That's not an area you'd want to setup a lemonade stand. For a vehicle transaction I have no idea. Probably a 'buy here make payments here' used car place?
