Noticed my 2003 4.3L Blazer has a slight intake gasket leak. My friend who is a mechanic, and also has the same truck suggested using Liquid Copper. He said it worked for his 4.3 intake leak. So far it doesnt look like its working for me, although it only has a couple hundred miles on it since I poured it in. Just wondeered if any BITOG'ers have used this stop leak additive, and what your thoughs were on it....

If you are talking about the one made by "Bars Leak" then yes I have used it and it worked on a 2001 Chev. Van 4.3 that I had worked on a while back with an intake water leak. But I also went around and tightened up some on the bolts .

I haven't used it. I would guess the additive might be hard on the water pump from what I've heard, but that's not a bad trade off at all for sealing a manifold leak.

I'm trying to think if the '03 4.3 still had the nylon and silicon IMG. If so, Green coolant is probably the most compatibile with that gasket. I would try retorquing the manifold bolts, if you can get to them, in the tightening order and torque speced.

Bars also has the new "aluminum" coolant sealer out now for those who have alum rads, heads or blocks.

I would doubt that it would work for a manifold seal. It is a good product but most likely will not work well for your problem. You should replace the gasket... Good luck.

I have a buddy who used it and it worked. I suggest you read the directions. IIRC there can be no antifreeze in the system while you do the treatment, only water. If AF is present it will cause problems. Once the treatment is completed then you can add the proper A/F distilled water mix. Double check the directions to be sure. HTH

Yeah I tend to think the regular Bar's radiator sealing tabs would be more applicable for a intake manifold gasket leak. The copper and aluminum ones are more for sealing blocks and headgaskets than regular coolant jacket gasket leaks. It still might not work.
