It's time to flush my Windstar's trans again, and was given some Mobil Multi-Vehicle ATF from a friend that works at a large oil distribution company (NICE HUH ?) Anyway it says that it is formally approved for Mercon V spec. I have no problem running it, but was just curious if anyone else has run it. Especially those of you who have run it in a Mercon V or T-IV application.
I have heard that Mercon V and T-IV don't jive well.
So is this a true Mercon V fluid or some kind of hybrid ?
It also says that it is a synthetic blend.
Mobil doesn't list a specific Mercon V fluid, (Though this says Mercon V right on the front of the bottle) so I was just curious what you guys think. It also says it is suitable for T-IV, Z1, Subaru, SP-III, and Volvo 97340.

Thanks,
Justin

Nice gift, $7.99 at AZ. I first started using Mobil 1 ATF when it was first invented many years ago in various Ford transmissions. The most resent formula has worked well for my Fords. Used it in my old Merc GM 217,000 miles, and in my present Focus. Shifts great both up and down. Very smooth.
I changed my sisters 02 Buick Monday and it shifts very smooth in it as well.

Thanks Tig,

If my buddy hadn't given me a case of this fluid,(I'm GRATEFUL that he did, cause I've been out of work since Febuary.) I would have gone with the M1 Full Synthetic Fluid.

Thanks,
Justin

Forgot to mention that I'm currently running
Motorcraft Mercon V.(I think it is Conoco Philips) The dealer sold me 4 gallons 2 years ago for $12.00. I asked him if that was the gallon or the quart price. And he said the gallon price. So I didn't argue, just flushed the trans and was happy.

I'm gonna flush the trans again, but this time I'm gonna change the filter.

No other takers yet ?
I'm sure someone on BITOG has used it, or atleast has an opinion.

I'm sure you'll be happy with it. It should serve you well for a decent amount of time. Since we all have developed group trans paranoia (thank you, Chrysler and games of "top this" from others!!) the use of a synthetic tends to mean more longevity in service without degradation.

I use the Mobil 1 Full Synthetic multi vehicle formula without problems. I have been slowly siphoning my recently changed Dex III dealer fluid over to this. Pull about 3 quarts at a time, drive it for a couple of weeks, repeat. Plan on pulling another 3 quarts out this weekend. Slowly but surely I will get a decent amount in there.

I have used it in my 01 blazer for about 100k miles, up to about 150k or something like that then drained and refilled with dex 6. It appeared to work fine. It is a little heavier than the dex 6, more similar to dex 3 which mine actually called for. FWIW it seemed to do fine and i would not have any issue running it agian.

Thanks Guys, I installed it last week, and my van is shifting great. The MC Mercon V I pulled out was nasty. (VERY DARK)
We used the MOC Flush machine, at my dad's work.
