Hi all. Another atf question here. On the walmart website under the multivehcle atf (supertech) there is a review that says:

Suitable for use where the following automatic transmission fluids are recommended: DEXRON®-II (E, F), DEXRON®-III (G, H), DEXRON®-VI, Honda ATF-Z1, MECRON®, MERCON®-LV, MERCON®SP, MERCON®-V, Nissan Matic-J, Suzuki JWS-3309, Toyota-T-IV and Toyota WS, SP-III

Is this true? It says on the back of the bottle "do not use in dex6 applications"'

Does anyone have a complete (accurate) list of specs this oil meets?

Go by the bottle.

SuperTech has a Dexron VI ATF, if that is what you need for newer GM car or truck that specs Dexron VI.

For the vehicles in your signature line, I'm sure the multi-vehicle ATF would be fine. Didn't they originally come with Dexron III fluid?

I would trust what is written on the bottle label over the website.

Agree. DW-1 for me in the Fit. Very nice and the $7 per qt was not too bad. I can't quite put ML in it but I would do ML if only Z-1 was available.

However, I am curious about the new ST for my Subaru. Castrol HM did not agree with it. I am one D/F into it with ML but for $4 and change per qt, I might want to try the ST import over the $12 jug of ST dexmerc. I gotta get that Castrol HM out... and the Mrs will shoot me if I bring home more ML ATF as I just spent 4 D/F with Castrol.

It probably doesn't meet any of the specs. Some of the specs are different, such as viscosity, and one fluid cannot meet both the high vis and low vis spec. Likely it is close enough that it works OK. The additive makers come out with new near-universal additive packages as the transmission makers come out with new fluids.

Ken2, my understanding is that the newer low viscocity shear-resistant fluids are developed to be about the same viscocity the higher viscocity fluids sheared to. In this way, it is possible to meet both.
