Anyone ever drive their side by

Here in sunny FL they are legal to drive on public roads, but that road must be posted at 25 mph or less. I'm not sure about the licensing/registration requirements, but it's done all the time. Even UPS uses a few to deliver packages around here.
I've seen several on 35/40 mph roads, not exactly legal, but I've never seen anyone being ticketed.

I do see "slow moving vehicle" and huge rear light bars on the back of some. Probably some sort of additional precaution taken by the owners.
Not as bad as those electric bicycles that will run 24 mph on a 25 mph posted road, People always run them flat out, so to pass them, you've really got to be careful. You just never know when one can't hear you and decide to swerve or make a left (no signals) in front of you!

Yeah it's a two way street with the neighbors here too. They don't complain about my long grass and I don't complain about the random refrigerator in his front yard I call it the unwritten rule.

Well, lest you get the wrong idea... His SxS is road legal, and there are no broken down vehicles or appliances in sight. It's a nice area.

My occasional forays out onto the quiet road between our places, on the non-street legal dirtbikes, are rarely seen by the neighbors. If they by chance DO see them, they'll pull over and let me know if it was a good wheelie or not...

Not legal in California at all. We can only ride in designated areas.

With that said the thing to do now seems to be to get 20+ sxs and ride wherever you want. Like the end of the movie "born in east L.A."

Here in Utah, an ATV can be driven on the roads, with speed not greater than 50 mph. They have to be registered and licensed, and meet minimum safety equipment, such as lights, mirrors and such. And the driver has to have completed a Utah off-road vehicle education online course.

I see them in town quite often. But it makes little sense to me. If you do maintenance to the recommended schedule, maintenance on a side-by-side is pretty expensive. Why would you not keep all your mileage for off-road use, where you are getting the most bang for the buck, and use a car, which is relatively cheap per mile, for driving around town.

We head up to NH often and spend quite a bit of road time between trail systems in the small towns from Berlin to Pittsburgh, NH.

We had a wicked pissah trip down to the Hatfield McCoy trails in W Virginia this summer. There was quite a bit of road time, including a section of two-lane highway.

IMO, Road time is akin to riding a
Motorcycle. A SxS is similar to my Jeep or buggy.

I think driving on the road is funner than the off road park. I haven't been to the offroad park in like 2 years now.

In general I don't like these golf cart / side by side exemptions. If cars have to be licensed, insured and pass all kinds of safety and smog tests, why should you be able to just drive your sxs or golf cart on the street?

Idk, all the offroad stuff has the same things as the cars do. Cat o2 sensor etc. You can't hardly buy a basic atv for less than $10k nowadays.

I can drive my kubota on the road. I think the only thing I need is to turn the flashers on. Already has an orange triangle from the factory lol

No safety equipment like a car and they are very top heavy. Off-road tires ride and handle like garbage on pavement and they wear out very fast. I don't get riding in the roads any more than you have to but if you are going to put DOT rated truck tires on. The only time I ride my ATVs on the road is in the winter to go out to the lake ice fishing.

It costs me $100 to drag it all the way to the offroad park. It's an all day ordeal, so that's why I prefer to just ride down the road.

In Kansas any county maintained road is good to go.. State highway not over 65mph are good if you are in the process of using it for farm errands. I have passed Sheriff officers going the opposite direction on a state highway running 60mph and they never turned around to get me. I was kind of concerned since I was carrying my Sub Machine gun with me but I had the proper paper work to possess it.

Legal in MN in my area on all county and municipal roads, not the state highways though.
