Anybody here use a safety razor?

I returned to using a double edged razor 2 years ago, wonder why I ever left now. Also use Italian shaving soap and a brush, close shave and blades only cost $10.00 a hundred.
Just did a little checking, those Russian blades are all the way down to $5 bucks a hundred plus shipping, that is a very good deal. You do have to wait approx. 2/3 weeks tho.
I noticed that also. Russian economy is going to [censored]. I bought a sampler of 110 blades a few weeks ago (Rapira, Voskhod, Sputnik etc.) for $11 or so. Tried a few and they seem to shave well.
May not as good as some of the Gillette premium Russian blades but good for less than half the price.

The Personna Medical Prep Blades are US made and the only blade thus far that I liked enough to buy a second 100 pack. $30 makes them one of the more expensive choices. They are sharp, yet forgiving, and have good edge retention.
DE blades are such a subjective topic, though. You really just have to try different ones until you find your favorite. I went through 100 packs of Israeli reds, 7 a.m., BIC, and Derby Extra before trying these. I didn't hate any of them, honestly. I haven't had any "duds" with the med prep blades while I did find an occasional dud with the others. I have seen that term used on Badger & Blade, but to me a dud is a blade that has a noticeably rough edge to it. When you get into DE shaving you'll know what that means.

He slips the razor, minus its blade, into his pocket and slides the handle between his second and third fingers, so that the razor head sits along his knuckles. In the event, though, he uses the Rolex as a knuckleduster, not the razor.
