I noticed lots of Mazda gun metal grey wheels start to flake after a few years old.

Has anyone power coated their factory wheels (any manufacturer) ?

How much does it cost ?

Local place charged me $700 for refinishing 4 BMW "bottlecap" wheels including clearcoat, mounting a balancing tires. Very satisfied.

I powdercoated my OEM Toyota truck wheels on my old truck and they held up as well or better than the OEM finish. I also did my steel winter wheels. I paid about $80 per wheel, but prices vary so call around.

I also plan to powdercoat my new trucks wheels this spring when I get new tires. I want to change the look and don't like aftermarket wheels.

I had some BMW factory wheels done. About $150 each. They were media blasted first. Its been five years and about 70k miles. They still look pretty good, but have picked up a few rock chips. It is defintely more chip resistant, but not impervious.

To the OP, you need to call around for prices in your area and get some references.

I had a set of split ring rims for the 62 Dodge powder coated. Looked good but I did chip them up a bit mounting the tires. The front bumper got done at the same time and it still looks great.
