I have a few questions myself. How long was this filter in service, what vehicle, engine, ect.

Were the parts stuck together or did it just fall apart?

It's a Champ filter( number# Ph 2835), that came from a late 90's Saturn with the SOHC engine. It was in the car for around 5-6,ooo miles.
With the internal parts after the cutting was done and I went to separate the parts it basicly fell apart. So for myself I really don't like the way it is set up internally. I have cut open the older Champ filters( the ones with the metal end caps) and the Quality seem to be alot better.
The metal end caps just seemed to hold the internals together better. This new setup just seems for more ways for the oil to get through without being filtered.

I initially found the pictures upsetting. Maybe somebody else needs to try these new things out? Thinking about it some more, the pressure is on the outside. It is all compression, no tension to pull anything apart. It is like those stone arches the Romans built 2000 years ago. There is nothing holding the stones down, but they will still stand tremendous loads today.
