Any truth to this?

I have been hearing this same stuff for years. Guys get some sort of funding from an oil company (say Pennzoil), but they may be using something like Redline or Torco in the engine. Guy who raced in the Pike's Peak Hill Climb told me that synthetic oil is the oil used by most, but people may have all sort of oil company names painted on their cars. Whoever is willing to fund them. But just because Pennzoil, Castrol, Quaker State, Valvoline or whatever is painted on their car, do not assume that is what is in the engine. I know a mechanic who also raced cars (at Beacon Hill Speedway) who used Mystik 15W-40 in his race car.

In the old days Redline and Torco were the oils I heard about actually being used in the cars. Who knows what they use today-the top teams may be using a special oil for each and every race. Today the small time operators are running Redline and Torco. The secret is out about these oils. We may find out ten years from now what guys are using today.
