Any Tire Pressure Gauge Recommendations?

Don't get an accugage. I wanted to get my wife a tire pressure gage for xmas. Didn't want to have it show up on the credit card so I printed out the mail in form from accugage's website. Sent a money order with the form. Somebody in the order department at accugage pocketed the money. Never got any response from my complaints.

Had this same gauge...until the kid dropped it, then it became wildly inaccurate, despite the rubber cushion around the dial. Not bashing it per se, just pointing out that it's not built for abuse.
I used to also prefer the analog style dial gauges, mostly due to ease of reading the needle. However, after dropping a few, I realized that the digital gauges are not only more durable and accurate, but just as easy to read if you get one with a good display. The LED (not LCD) displays like the Etenwolf model I suggested in Post #3 are just as easy to read as any analog dial gauge.

My first recommendation would be a pressure gauge of the correct range. The majority of us are measuring pressures in the 30 - 45 psi range yet too often we are faced with gauges that read 0 -100PSi which is needlessly throwing away some degree of accuracy. Except for a few exceptions that need a higher range, normal gauges aimed at car drivers should read no more than 60PSi which would improve the accuracy of all of them whether cheap or expensive.

It depends on the accuracy of the gauge. A grade 1A gauge, will have the same accuracy throughout the range. Grade B gauges are less accurate at the end of the range, and more accurate in the middle of the range. So, a B gauge would be better for a tire gauge, although they are often less accurate on an absolute scale.

Thanks all! Will be getting Made in USA Miltons 5-50 for the cars and a Jaco for the shop. 1 wide range Milton just in case. Drager seems to be unobtanium for a reasonable price.

I have probably a dozen different gauges and four compressors ........ the unit below retired them all.

For a cheap gauge, I haven't had any complaints about the Etenwolf linked above. Had no expectations with regard to the light, but it has turned out to be a handy bonus.

I have one of the VDO gauges as well, but it sits in the drawer. While I'm one of those who wouldn't lose much sleep if the Imperial unit system went away in favor of the SI system, I still prefer some units the old way, and never warmed up to its major scale.

I'd also fret over it if it sprouted legs and ran away, or dropped onto the hard floor and shattered, or turned into an unintended rattle toy.

I like the Milton pencil gauges. But I mostly use the readout on the Milwaukee cordless pump.
The Jaco are really good as well.
I have 5 or 6 Milton pencil gauges. Some are now over 40 years old. All these gauges still work very well. During that same time, I wasted money on another 4 or 5 digital gauges. Not one of the digital gauges lasted more than a few years.

Ever since I worked at the Mobil Station as a kid I've used Milton pencil gauges. Either in my shirt pocket or sleeve on my blue jacket.

off topic but every time i fill my tires with air, i imagine dying in a horrific manner by it blowing up in my face

also, does it make a difference if you check tire pressure when the valve stem is at 12 o'clock vs 6 o'clock?

No but for me the 12 o clock makes it easier for me...less bending over....:D
