Any thoughts on PEAK oil?

Yes, deffinately try the PEAK oil and you(Mom) will like it! Though, I agree with others saying, wait for a better price since you won't be doing an OCI til Spring. Then, when you get a better price, you'll be able to buy a boat load of the oil for other OCI's and because, you'll like the oil even more

Salv: Do you think that Warren produced oils have a hierarchy and if so what is it?

My only complaint about Peak is they have really remarkably dumb advertising. For years they had Danica Patrick saying "When You Peak, You Win" to advertise their coolant. Just a really dumb tagline.

Now I think they have a Duck Dynasty endorsement? Goes nice with the Duck Dynasty loofahs and other random [censored] I've seen around lately.

Haha, I have to agree with both the Danica and Duck Dynasty stupidity. They're advertising is extremely off-putting to me. I know advertising it only words, but I like it when a product actually talks about it's legitimate qualities instead of vying for our attention with a mediocre driver and a group of rednecks that produce duck calls. But that's just me.

Thanks Char Baby!

I agree with pbm. What do you think this heiarchy is, salv?

And to metalboy and cheesepuffs - While I do agree with you about it being bad advertising, I must confess that, though I don't generally watch it, I like Duck Dynasty for what it's trying to portray. Many people don't know that Duck Commander was/is the name of the brand of hunting items they sell, and was very successful way before A&E made them into a TV show. They don't need the money from A&E, but they decided to do the show because they wanted to make a (legitimately) true to life reality show about a Christian, country family. Obviously they are legit, otherwise there would not have been a big ol' ordeal about the old guy speaking his views from the Bible. Yes, if you've not already guessed it, I'm a Christian (and live in a country town, to boot).

Nonetheless, to get back on topic, I do agree that Peak could do a better job of advertising, but in all reality, Peak is not really a major competitor to Pennzoil, Castrol, Mobil, Valvoline, so on and so forth. Peak probably sells more coolant than it does oil. So, I think the reason Peak doesn't bother to "show off" its oil like the other, bigger name-brand companies do, is because it isn't worried about being the best; Peak is okay where they stand, and would rather have a little fun with advertising instead of being down-to-business.

I didn't mean to bring up the politics of Duck Dynasty, which is a show I've never seen. They sure do seem to have their whiskers on all sorts of products not even tangentially related to duck calls though.

"When you peak, you win" is still one of the dumbest taglines I've ever heard. When you peak, you peak! It's downhill from there, that's what peaking means.

Dumb or not, I have no problem watching her say it. I might just buy a jug of Peak this evening in hopes they will bring out a new Danica commercial.

Originaly, one could have bought PEAK at a very low everyday price but now, it's prices have climbed with their reputation.

PEAK is certainly a sleeper oil when caught on sale/discounted. Look for PEAK on the CHEAP, buy up the shelf and use it with confidence. I have my last 5 qts in my stash. I'll use it next OCI.

Hahaha... I laugh at some of those self-proclaimed 'mechanic know-it-all' people who seriously don't understand that (new API spec'd) dino oil is much, much better than it used to be, and that 3k OCI's are no longer the necessary interval... I mean, not that there is anything wrong with 3k OCI's if the vehicle goes through severe conditions, harsh acceleration, and/or heavy towing. If I run dino oil, I change at about 4.5k, sometimes a little less (I habitually accelerate harshly, not because I'm abusing my truck, but because I... well, I just like doing it, haha [and God knows that it's hard to break a Ford modular V8 engine]. And lemme tell you, the sound of a 5.4L Triton with a K&N cold air intake is ear-gasmic lmao.

the last commercial i saw with peak, was 6 months ago, some blonde chick in a nascar car, prmoting it, saying it is a family business, not one of the corporate giants.

Bought 30 quarts back then when they were near free after rebates, used them all up eventually (in IS250 and Corolla), no problem at all. If the price is right I'd buy it.

Recently bought PEAK 5W30 SN rated synthetic which is DEXOS 1 approved for $14.00 per 5 qrt jug on close out ...How bad could it be for up to a 7500 mile OCI ?

I just spotted some Peak Synthetic on closeout for about $2.15/quart in 5w30 and 10w30 at the local advance auto parts. However I did not buy any because I have enough oil already to use. I wouldn't hesitate to use it though.

Dexos approved, eh? Well, maybe I will try it in the Camaro, or my dad's Buick Lesabre (98) he bought a little bit ago to replace his 99 Escort. In another thread I explained the whole deal about his Escort, lol. Lasted 260k miles and with each engine (had 2 replacement engines, and yah, I know, Why did we even bother, right? but still it got 34mpg). But those 2.0L non zetec engines had some problems haha.

Anywho, I know this thread I posted was about Peak, but guess what...? I ended up buying VML semi-syn 5w30 for her Explorer lol. Yah, I am kind of impulsive (ADHD)so... and for 17 bucks, and a 3.69 MC filter... Why not.

Irrelevant again, but anyway, I had alot of Amazon gift cards from Christmas and bought a whole bunch of oil... Got some Royal Purple for a really good deal there on Amazon - 6 quarts 0w-20 for my mom's Lincoln Aviator, and 6 quarts 5w30 for my truck, each at just under 40 bucks which, IMO, is a good deal for RP.
Also, I ended up getting 6 quarts of Mag1 5w30 SM full syn Euro Spec for like 37 bucks. And Also, I was given a 25 dollar O'reilly gift card so I went and saw they had a deal on Castrol Semi-syn blend 5 quarts + a filter, but uncle sam added like 3 bucks tax (oh well) which I plan on using in the Camaro sometime in the future.

I try to find good deals and when I am given gift cards to Amazon and O'Reillys, I tend to use it for oil haha.

I am kind of random when it comes to buying oil I guess, but I always look for the best deals.

I wish I had one nearby, all I have is Walmart, Oreillys, or Auto Zone, all of which I have to drive out of town into another city to get to. I do shop on Amazon alot though haha.

I was just in AAP getting a new battery and I didn't see any PEAK anything on closeout. But, I am going back today for another look as I'll be in the neighborhood
