Any reason not to switch to a HM oil?

Other than that I use regular oil.

For your truck I would use the cheapest name brand oil in the weight unless it had problems you did not list.

You mean that one v6 toyo engine that hasn't been in production since like 14 years ago?

That was the big one but Toyota had sludge issues in many others. http://www.toyotasludge.com

That website is [censored], I have rebuilt 60+ 1zz-fe and quiet a few 2az-fe, never ever have I seen "sludge", all the same motors I have seen at the junkyard, never seen "sludge". Complete [censored] on that website and its dimwit owners.

OT....IMHO.....For those sludged Toyota vehicles, I wonder if the regular oil change service was actually performed. IMO...if you don't do it yourself....you will never know for sure if the oil was changed with API approved oil.

Too many vehicles in my hood had major oil/sludge problems from having out of spec oil or no oil change performed for their payment at quick lube places and shady garages.

The only way to know, for sure, that you're getting what you pay for is if the service is performed by yourself, or using an honest shop where you can see the oil being drained and filled with legitimate API approved oil. I would avoid places with sitting rooms/lounges where they take your vehicle behind a door of secrecy and out of view. I'm not a fan of quick lube places since you really don't know what is in the bulk oil drum or tank. There could be anything in those vats and drums since the chain of custody between the producer to supplier involves the oil changing hands with many parties. Too many times you hear that you can't view the work in progress because of insurance regulations......make sure to stay away.

When my 65K mi Grand Marquis had increased consumption from 4500mi till around 2500mi I started using MI HM(No it wasn't leaking)... Now nearing 5K mi it's close to being a qt low, appears the HM oil has actually improved consumption to better than when I got it at 33K mi(just turned 70K mi)...

Still seems most on here don't understand the concept of preventive maintenance, to keep leaks from developing not wait till they do... Though on a vehicle with no issues and less than 10 years old, I'd wait till around 100-125K mi to start using it... I know my Grand Marquis will never see any other oil...

As far as more expensive, B-S generally can bought on sale or at Wally World for same price as non HM oils...

I am currently running valvoline full syn with maxlife technology and have fewer miles than you...an excellent choice imo...just make sure you run something specd for you application....

If a High Mileage oil is effective for stopping leaks on an old car, it must be doing SOMETHING to the seals.

For a good motor with no leaks and no consumption, there is no way I would use HM oil... regardless if I was at 75k or 300k
