Any NSX owners?

Magnuson roots-type supercharger
Flowtech Induction camshaft
DTE 3.90 gears rated up to 700HP
Spec twin-disc clutch rated up to 900HP
60Lb Ford Racing fuel injectors
Nitto 555r 315 rubbers all around

It's pretty hard for an all aluminum body to rust much.

But I will agree that Ferrari ownership is for people with money to burn! 360 Modena often sells at less than 10k miles due to fantastically expensive maintenance that comes up there.

Seriously, does NSX really cost the same as run of the mill Acura to maintain? I am having hard time believing it. Sure you can buy a used NSX for $30K but it will be still a $100K car when it comes to taking care of it.

Even today NSX looks great but can it keep up with a proverbial today's stock Camry V6? The Magnum Ferrari failed to do that in a televised event. I have watched too many Top Gear shows and seen too many beloved exotics get completely owned by latest grocery getters. Is NSX immune from that?

Easily. The NSX's 0-60 time is in the high 4-second range to low 5-second range. The best a V-6 Camry will do, 0-60, is around 6 seconds flat. A 0-60 time around 5 seconds, or even just below, is pretty dadgum fast.

Not that bad at all for that old of a car. Might want to hang out at www.nsxprime.com and get to know these cars. They have a few very important quirks.

Is the 1992 and 1993 "Automatic trans snap ring" one of them? ($~3000 trans rebuild IF it goes. Trans-related.)

This car had an AUTO trans available too, right?

best car i've ever driven. engine has torque and very responsive.
what i love about the nsx is its raww driving experience. you feel extremely connected to the road and is one of the best handling cars money can buy. Honda s2000 owners should know this very well

Interior is simple, beautiful and very practical. Love the gauges DROOL!

i definitely would love to own one...but a 6spd version.

Suprised no one has brought up the Fiber Reinforced Metal cylinder liners. Either as a pro or a con.

Con: Rings wear out long before the cylinders.
Pro: Re-ring just means putting in new rings. No cylinder bore work. Or so they say.

It's a very nice looking and performing vehicle that can be (if taken care of) reliable.
But....and this is just me....if looks and a certain level of prestige is what you might be looking for, I'd pick something else in that price range.
How about Ferrari 308 from the mid 1980's? For about $30k or so you can pick up a nice one. Yes, they can be a mechanical can of worms, but they sure look great and will catch the eye of many a person (me included). Beautiful cars and perform pretty well....but best of all it's a Ferrari.
Just my useless opinion.

What about an RX-8? Sort of the same car design philosophy but newer and cheaper? I can't really imagine an older ferrari as a track toy, unless you basically become a mechanic as a hobby.

I had 4 rx-7's as a teenager. What an amazing machine. Those rotary engines were amazing.

These babies absolutely ate the tires up (if driven as they were designed & supposed to be driven) but are among the least problematical (?) of any truly exotic sports cars.

Basically a dead solid daily driver candidate that eats tires. You want to get to know the Acura Service Manager and keep up on the preventive maintenance, but compared to any Ferarri, Lambo, Aston, Maserati (even a Jag) an NSX is an absolute pleasure to own & DRIVE!

IMHO the Ferrari model to get from that vintage is the 355, the 348 was ehh not their best effort.

Still the NSX is an amazing car, I'd buy one if I were in the market. No reason not to, for their day they were amazing, and probably will be somewhat collectable in the future.

No but I'm pretty sure at 120mph when the truck starts to lift up, and blow its drive train apart the F car will outpace it.

The man himself drove a 355 for years. A truly awesome example of what makes a sports car.

I had posted about the Ferrari 308...not the 348. Factoring in cost/performance and a bit of reliability, the 308 is priced very well right now as a collectible Ferrari. I fell in love with that car from the TV show of course (Magnum, PI). I've seen a few on the highway about once a year or so, and they just look fantastic in person. It stands out like a diamond.
