If you're concerned of a repeat, get some dielectric grease and coat the whole new board with it. LOL.

More seriously, the transistors or traces might be contaminated and more "aggressive" cleaning is needed. Meaning a spray alone may not jar loose ions, you might need to rub the board with copious amounts of liquid or use an ultrasonic cleaner.
