Hi folks and I see some people really like Conoco/Phillips products; but how many of you folks use or have used it. I kind of like the additive package in it, thinking of using the semi synthetic possibly in my Focus
I used some 76 Syn Blend in the spring of last year. I liked it just fine, but availability is what keeps me from using more of it. If you have an Orscelin's Farm Store near you, they run it on sale for $1.99 a quart several times a year. Good deal.
I just did a Kendall GT1 Semi-syn...starts up with no initial timing chain rattle (common with Camrys)...engine sounds fine under load...will alternate with Pennzoil PPP for the next 5 OCs...
i used to run trop-art syn blend 5w30 in a trailblazer and a dodge ram in minnesota. it looked horrible by the end of winter, but both vehicles held up well
Big fan of Trop Artic. I'd still use it even if it wasn't so darn cheap because it is so darn good. Having used a bunch of it I really believe it rivals top contenders from the big names. I have Trop Artic in two cars now and have used it in 4, awesome stuff.
If Kendall wasn't unobtanium here I'd definitely try it. I sure wish there was a 10w40 Trop Artic.
if you want to know the relationship, it goes like this:
- Motorcraft base oil and additives
- Trop artic = same additives as motorcraft but better base stock
- Kendall = same base stock as Trop Artic but better additive package
In short, Trop Artic shares properties with motorcraft and kendall but motorcraft and kendall have nothing in common other than manufacturing company.
Big fan here. Have used GT1 Euro 5w40 in the 2.0T and GT1 blend in the 2.4. Both ran nice and smooth (as has everything else for the most part). No consumption.
