I've used them with good results. They (PSC) can often times be found on Amazon as well, and for 0w-20 that I use, it's usually about $49 + $17 shipping for 12qts., or about $5.50/qt. Not too shabby.

The cost per-case goes down if you order two cases, but goes back up if you order three or more. Two cases is the sweet spot for the best shipping price per-case.

Also, I'm not sure if it's still valid or not but the coupon code COMEBACK10 used to take 10% off your order. Didn't matter if it was two cases of Kendall oil, or a 55 gallon drum of oil, it took 10% off your order (not including shipping).

Good to know about the two-case order. And I used that code in January for my last order!

In short, Trop Artic shares properties with motorcraft and kendall but motorcraft and kendall have nothing in common other than manufacturing company.

Where did you get that info?
I'm wondering why Ford would ask CP to make an inferior oil (than their standard oils) for their cars?

Where does Union 76 fit into all those?

The way I understood it, Motorcraft had the better base oil than Trop Artic, and 76 Super and Trop Artic were basically the same oil. But I could easily be mistaken.

We use Kendall at our shop for over 10 years. I've used it in mine. Great Oil. I can buy full synthetic for $3.50 a quart tax included

Incidentally, they license quite a few Chevron technology marvels..

Well, that's saying the opposite of badtlc. You guys decide on who's right and let me know.

I will give an add'l endorsement to the base oil common to all three (Motorcraft, Kendall, Trop). In 2011 a family member drove a 2008 Ford Escape with the 2.3L engine for approx 3 miles with no oil in the sump. Dry. Pull the drain plug, nothin' but drips. It all went out after the oil filter was sheared off from driving over something on the road. Oil light came on immediately due to catastrophic loss of pressure but onward they drove "but I took it easy..." The car was running Motorcraft 5W20 syn blend, always dealer oil changes on the stuff its whole life up to then. That was at 67,000 miles. It now has 116,000 and still purrs like a kitten, no oil consumption issues, and makes rated fuel economy.

Maybe it was the engine, maybe it was the oil, maybe it was luck, maybe any engine and oil combo would survive similarly. Don't know. Just sayin'.

I'd use it if I could find it locally. Shipping usually kills the deal for me. I cannot seem to find any of the ConocoPhillips oils around here, aside from Motorcraft.

Oils like Kendall are usually available in more locations than people realize. Rather than looking for an auto parts store in your area that carries it, use ConocoPhillips website to see if there's an oil distributer in your area. They'll usually sell you oil by the case, and at a good price. My local oil distributer sells cases of Kendall GT-1 Full Synthetic for $48 plus tax (so $4 a quart).

All data is available on this site. Just see the PQI VOAs for additive comparisons and data sheets for base oil characteristics.

Yes, Motorcraft is the bottom of the conoco lineup but good enough to meet ford's requirements. nothing wrong with it.

Trop artic has higher flash points and less VIIs.

I use the Kendall oils a lot. Good stuff.
