I've been a big fan of the original Japanese show for many, many years. The American show is OK, but pales in comparison to the original. Anyway, the fiancee and I went to eat at Morimoto's (Iron Chef Japanese) restaurant on Saturday. It was our 3rd time there since the restaurant opened and each time has been wonderful. Got to meet the Iron Chef the 1st time we were there, but haven't seen him the last 2 times. His rock shrimp tempura is to die for, as is just about everything else we ate there.

For the humor sometimes. Rather dated. I actually like the American show better for the occasional idea for when I retire and amazingly may cook again (and bake, as Mori does). Sometimes the Japan version has a hottie for a judge.

Much prefer the Japanese to the American version (wonder if Iron Maiden authorised the use of their font).

Next time I run across some "Swallow's Nest", I'll know to make a soup with it and shark fin.

It's usually rigged 'though.

I generally don't miss it, as sometimes there's a "speed" method of doing something that takes me hours.

I can't stand Emeril either. I don't think the recipes he does on TV are anything special at all and his personality makes me want to slap him.

So whaddya think about Rachael Ray?

I've made some of the dishes she's featured, and although she tends to make things look overly easy, they're not too hard to prepare. Some of the ingredients are a bit hard to come by up in cheese and bratwurst country, but lots of the pasta dishes have turned out excellent.

She's not too bad on the eyes either. Maybe her and Jenny Craig should get together, as more recently she's looked a bit more "plump" that usual.

Recognition at last. Soba ale forever!

The best Iron Chef of both series was Chen. Such a nice gracious man. Love live the original Iron Chef in reruns.

Booby Flay $ucks.

Aw, come on...Bobby Flay is alright. He may be a bit full of himself, but he's pretty decent. He's going to be up in WI soon putting on a seminar, and I have half a notion to go see him.
