Any high mileage car using only 5w20 dino or syn?

I'm using 5W20 in my 01 Toyota Tundra V8 with 120,000mi. UOA came out good.

Next oil change @ 125,000mi? Yep, 5W20 in the crankcase
 
What's high mileage? Got 5w20 in the 98k ranger, plan on using it till it leaks or starts heavily consuming oil.
 
I had PP 5W20 in my '94 290+k miles LS400 some years ago, the spec'ed is 5W30. I had some FAR 5W30 Peak from Pep Boys I had been using it for few year. The last 2 fills was Synpower 5W20, the next fill will be Mobil Super 5W20.

The engine consumes a little more oil with 5W20 than 5W30, 1/2 quart per 2-3k miles vs 3-4k miles.

The other car that had been using xW20 is E430. This car has more than 140k miles now, it had been filled with xW20 for about 4 years now, the recommended grade is A3/B3 and had been M1 0W40 until 1998. Engine is quieter and throttle response(and acceleration) is quicker plus better MPG.

Presently running 5W20 QSGB in my 2000 Taurus with 269K.

The reason I am running 5W20 is because most every oil changing facility thinks is that because it has a blue oval on it, there is some kind of federal law that they MUST run 5W20 in it (and, yes I know Ford back specked the engine for 5W20.) I also forgot to request 5W30 this time.

This is also the first time in the last eight oil changes that I have had to add a quart. The last time I had to add a quart, I also forgot to tell them I wanted 5W30 in it.

I guess that excludes body shops, such as the one I went to recently, in which 20w50 was the only grade used in all vehicles no matter what the car was spec'd for. In fact one of the mechanics told me, pour 0w20 or 5w20 in a Toyota Camry's engine and it's guaranteed to be trashed in 2 weeks. I tried my best to keep a straight face...
 
The police department here has a whole lot of Crown Vics with over 200k, a handful over 300k all on Castrol 5w20 dino and 5k OCI's.

wow here in nj they cant have over a certain amount of miles definatly not 200,000 at that mileage they become taxi cabs and i think there is a mileage restriction for them to

bottom line 4,6 v8 ford engines run forever

And flight school aircraft engines are seriously abused, yet significantly outlast their private counterparts, same oil.

The taxi/cop/limo engine lifespan has nothing to do with the choice of oil and everything to do with regular and continuous operation.

I have a place that I go to on occasion to have my oil changed. It is a muffler place and still will change w/ 5 qts. of Citgo conventional and filter for $12.88. I was in there last year and told the guy that I wanted an oil change and use 5W30. He told me that I would void the warranty. After I got done busting a gut laughing, I told him that 1) the car was originally spec'd for 5W30 and 2) I was curious to know what kind of warranty there was on an 11 year old Ford with over 200K on it? He didn't have a comeback for that; however, I'm sure that the $5.00 upcharge for 5W20 was the impetus for his great concern.

The only thing that 5W20 does for me in that car is absolutely GUARANTEE that I will be topping off w/ a full quart during an OCI. This car uses virtually no oil (< 1/2 quart at most) on 5W30, even with the miles that are on it.
 
I run 10w in one of my Fords@ 214,000 miles because to me the bottom end sounds loose on 5w-20. If I didn't think I were hearing something I would run 5w-20, like I do in the other car@ 112,000 miles.
 
My '03 Accord now has 130500 miles on 5w-20 (usually PP, but I have been using Peak Synthetic lately because of some awesome deals). Does this count as high mileage? Dunno. Anyway, the car runs as well as it did when it was new.

Dang! Your Police Dept. must be on a really tight budget. Either that or our Police Dept. must have a huge budget. Patrol cars here don't make it to 175k before being replaced.
