Any Good Sounding Diesel Engines?

My deleted 6.7 with 5" turbo back with Flo Pro Twister has a very nice rumble at idle and take off. Also has a nice bit of turbo whistle when taking off. Its just right.

I enjoyed the sound driving 8-71's, 4-71's not so much. My Cummins is quiet with good power.

EMD 567 V16's, Roots-scavenged. The later EMD's with turbos were a little too smooth.

Napier Deltic 18's. 88 liters of elegant English terror.

Detroit 20V-149's. Pissed off at the world.

The Number 1 engine on the USS Sea Tiger, from the 1959 movie Operation Petticoat…

Rowl, Bang, Grumble, Snarl….

Wish I could find a video clip…

All the little truck and car diesels sound like skeletons wanking in a metal filing cabinet.

The big rig & up Cats, DD's, Cumins, Scanias are where they start sounding good. Big train mills awesome.

I always liked the sound my '82 300D Turbo Diesel made at speed, like 75-80 MPH, a nice throaty roar. The older Cummins always sounded good, especially started cold.
My 300D automatic transmission had a whine at 50 that sounded like it was going 100.

I got her up to 85 and all the noise combined was indeed glorious.

Straight pipe 6.0 PSD, 6.7 PSD straight pipe, 6.6 duramax straight piped, DD series 60, especially with engine brakes, CAT C15, Cummins N14 and 2 stroke detroits.

A 3,000 hp V-16 Turbo Diesel from GE. Might even ba a 4 stroke. It has more of a turbine sound or hum to it than the traditional diesel clack of a semi.

That was such an awesome car to watch in real life. The onboard sound is nothing like what you hear when it is at full send on the track (From an observers POV). What you hear is the wind flowing over the car, some gear noise, and the brakes. That's about it, provided there were no other cars around. If there were, you couldn't hear it at all. Meanwhile, they're spanking the rest of the field. I used to have a couple of vids of it from the Petit Lemans one year, but I think they ended up lost to time.
