I was wondering if any internal engine components, drive train, rotors, brakes, axels, etc would be greatly effected if let's say one were to had a minor accident in which a car hit the rear bumper causing a minor dent going about 40 mph?
Well, while i was coming to a complete stop, the dumb guy was tail gating and ended up rear ending my back bumper. I believe the car in the back was going 35 and i was near to a complete stop at a red light.
The funny thing is that when i slow down, i notice the rev needle bounces a little (up and down) when it goes down past 1000 rpm. Could my torque converter or transmission become effected?
I was hit by a 17 year old not paying attention.
Thats when I had my 96 splatterurn, I was dead stopped at a traffic light next thing I know kaaaaaaabaaaammm he had to be doing at least 40
speed limit was 45. His was a cavalier late 90's it deployed both his airbags pushed his hood up broke both headlights busted his radiator and somehow busted his windshield. I was mad cause I couldnt find my hat I finally found it laying by the back glass. the only thing it done to that car was scratched the bottom of the back bumper go figure. I thought that car was totaled before I looked. To this day I dont see how the car help up.
Like, when i accelerate and slow down until the needle drop down past the 1000 rpm, it would make a bump down and then up and down again like a rubber ball bouncing up and down. Usually it would bounce down and up and stay still (total of 2 bounces). But i see (3 bounces). I dont know if the rubber mounts that eljefino was talking about was damaged or not. also, usually when i let go of the pedal (slowing down), the tach needle usually decreases quickly to reach 1000 rpm. But now it takes a little longer to reach 1000 rpm. This engine has 4000 miles on it still.
