Any Canadians try this GDI fuel system cleaner?

I have used one bottle of this cleaner after my last oil change on the Hyundai Accent and just wanted to know if anyone else has used this too? Any thoughts on it? According to the questions asked on the CanTire website they say that it contains PEA

I've been told that it is like snake oil, that you won't see any benefits as the regular fuel already has those additives that that bottle has.

PS: I never used one before so I can't say this for sure, can anyone jump in with some science?!?

D@mn, I didn't want to hear that...I'm notorious for getting sucked into snake oils. I guess I want to see if this would be a good substitute for the bottle of Hyundai fuel additive that they recommend after every oil change in the owners manual maintenance schedule.

Naphthalene is what old school moth balls are made of. And I think what creosote pretty much is. If or when I get a vehicle with direct injection I'll use the highest noack oil I can find and good gas. If the car needs engine dissasembly from carbon id use it as an excuse to throw aftermarket cams in. I believe driving those cars more spirited also helps. I wouldn't bother with that stuff.

What OCI do you use for the Accent? I use 6,000 kms for my 2013 Sonata, as per Hyundai Canadian OCI requirements. At that interval, Pennzoil Conventional 5w20 or 5w30 is what I use.(depends on what is on sale)
I picked up Pennzoil Conventional 5w20 at Wal-Mart for $13.88 per 4.73L jug a few months ago. OEM Hyundai filter and good to go.

He is talking about his oil change, I too agree to run synthetic if he can afford it.

As for fuel additive might not be needed, if your car has extremely dirty injectors have a mechanic clean it or DIY

Hyundai recommends a fuel additive after every oil change. They have their fuel additive sold at the dealership and I'm just inquiring about other alternatives.

I do 6,000 km's OCI but i am even contemplating every 5,000 km because I'm thinking that these engines are a little hard on oil. I have in my stash Valvoline conventional, Pennzoil conventional, Castrol GTX and currently using Motormaster Formula1 conventional...as noted in my signature I am not brand loyal.

Did I come off as I sounded down on my luck? Yes I can afford synthetic but 6,000km's (3750 mile) OCI's seems a bit of a waste. I'm sure that early oil changes will keep things nice and tidy.

I started this thread to discuss the fuel additive mentioned above and wanted to get members input about the product and read about past or present experiences using the product. This site is loaded with a ton of knowledgeable members so I'm looking for some good info on what they think. I'm sure I posted this topic in the right part of the forum but I'm getting responses like don't use fuel additives and go with synthetic oil....I thought this section was for fuel additive discussions???

If it's got pea we all know that's what techron is so use it.
Unless we are now saying pea is useless.

Guaranteed to pass has a very high concentration of pea so it's 12 bucks at Canadian tire. What's this stuff cost.

For extra info I think I should also mention that my mileage is currently @ 14,000 km's (8,700) and I only use Top Tier fuels like Shell, Esso & Petro Canada ...87 octane is what I mainly use and I use Shell V-power 91 (contains no ethanol) when adding the fuel additive. The fuel additive is for preventative maintenance purposes only and what Hyundai recommends in their service manual especially if Top Tier fuel is not being used.

Saying it is for GDI is most likely a marketing thing. I think Hyundai's injector cleaner is Techron. Unfortunately, no cleaner put in the fuel will address the real issue with GDI engines. What's not getting cleaned is the back side of the intake valves because the fuel is not injected into the intake plenum.

A periodic Sea Foam treatment every 30000 miles or so maybe one way to solve this issue.

Fuel system cleaners are still very important, especially in GDi, for the sake of keeping the very high psi fuel pump in good health and maintaining the integrity of the fuel spray patterns from the injectors.

At Hyundai's conservative oci recommendation (severe svc - 3,750 for the 2.4 or 3,000 for the 2.0T), no need for synthetic oil. There has been no rash of deposit issues with the Theta II platform that has been on the road since 2009 (model yr 2010). Just use a good conventional and you'll be fine.

Yes, with research on GDI engines I have come to understand what the difference of how the fuel from the injectors are dispensed. Seems like a Seafoam or any other cleaner thorugh the air intake will take car of that cleaning which fuel treatments will not.
