Earlier today came across a discussion in the challenges separating dual rear wheels. A response that a dual rear wheel seperator is a must have for anyone with dual rear wheels..the discussion implied one could be stuck in the side of the road trying to separate the dual tires.

The link appears to be the highest reviewed tool. Looks like Chinese knock offs are available in Amazon for 1/4 the price.

1) I don't remember ever hearing about people having trouble with dual wheel removal. I suspect this tool is only for very rusted wheels.

2) The linked tool is EXPENSIVE!! Amazon lists other tools for 1/4 the price. Makes me think that someone is trying to promote their own product.

Could we get a link to that discussion??

You are correct sir. I am the inventor of that tool. You caught me . I hope you buy one, and tell all your friends they need one also.

You could practice taking your wheels off to make sure they're not stuck. If they have been removed recently it should be no problem to do again if you have a flat.

There is this one for $40 which has pictures showing how it is used. The large nuts have a flat section which will catch on one of the slots/holes in the outer wheel while the end of the threaded rod pushes on the inner wheel. Two nuts are provided for different styles of wheels. (Whoever took the pictures forgot to remove the lug nuts first).

I've owned and currently own a light duty class 3 dually pickup, through MDT's and HDT's. I've never had an issue removing Dual wheels. All in a location that loves to spread and spray as much Salt and Salt brine on the roads as is humanly possible.

Are all four of your rear wheels steel, or a mix if aluminum and steel.

I have never heard of this issue, but am checking into it as would hate to be stranded.

Been around dual rear wheel trucks my whole life and I’ve never ran into this.

Seems like some never seize on the hubs/wheels and this shouldn’t be a concern.
