Any 0w30 users here?

The remedy for intake valve deposits, according to the Caltex paper, was more frequent oil changes. Intake valve deposit rate increased as oil age increases.

Mid/high SAP oils are fine for GDI as long as you're not hung up on 10k or OLM intervals, reusing filters multiple times, or avoiding top offs.

Regardless, a can of IVD spray/foam/drip fed cleaner is all I need regardless of the SAP level and what I recommend for all GDI-only engines. Interval is for you to decide but am stuck on twice a year before the normal oil change intervals.

I would not avoid 0w30 on the clearance rack. Scored a bunch from Redline, Lucas, Castrol over the years. 0w30 isn't something I need. Anywhere a 0w30 can be used, if no one is looking, a synthetic equivalent 5w30 can be used too.

Belgian Castrol in 0w30 and 0w40 hasn't wronged me yet.

With 0w30, one needs to know what spec your engine is calling for.... high or low HTHS....., and even then I'll up the HTHS and SAPs when I can.

i run amsoil signature 0w30 by necessity in winter. i never plug my car and my car is always outside exposed to the elements, and temperatures drop often below -36 Celsius without wind chill where i live. last year was record year for cold in my area as temperature dropped to -48 Celsius without wind chill 3 times. i also use mobil AFE 0w30. i am also very much intrigued by hpl 0w30 premium plus series. it has very good specs for extreme cold.
I'm glad that I don't live in Fairbanks here, though my area does have temps approaching, and every few years exceeding -35 deg Celsius. I've had great success with full-syn Quaker State and Kirkland 5W-30 oils during our winters -- even during below zero (F) stretches lasting weeks long. My vehicles are not garaged.

0W-30 seems is rare as hen's teeth at Walmart here. I refuse to pay auto parts store prices for it.

OTOH, both the Castrol and Mobil-1 flavors of 0W-40 are readily available at the Wal(dorf) mart. I've used ... it works well. In fact, the last of my current 0W-40 stock and an old-style Fram Ultra are going into my older Silverado next week. My oil burning pig of an Equinox will get the Kirkland.

Winter has arrived in southcentral Alaska...

My friend's used bmw "limo" doesn't have a dipper. He goes into a menu on the head unit display and it reads out oil level and condition.

Of course, a well dressed man does not want soot or grease on his French cuff,
plus just opening the hood is a vulgar action in many circles, as it signals a "personal failure".
:D
That ginger cat FTW🤣

Good Afternoon folks 🇺🇸🇨🇦. What oil are you folks using in 0w30 for say a Jeep Renegade with the fiat designed engine? Or if you own a Alfa Romeo what 0w30 do you use? At work we are using MOPAR 0w30.

edit: I think the Mopar version is the only approved option in the US?

Both Motul 8100 Eco-Clean 0W30 and LM Top Tec 4310 use the "recommended for" language.

At work we use genuine Mopar 0W-30 unless customers provide or request something else. In our rental fleet of those we also use the genuine Mopar 0W-30 and genuine Mopar filters.

I only purchase from reputable sources in Canada.
We don't get half the weird brands that are available in the US.
So, you can’t get genuine MOPAR 0w30? I’d be fired if I put 5w30 that didn’t meet MOPAR spec for renegade or Alfa Romeo’s we have that calls for 0w30. That is all
