Anti-Spam Software

Did not notice an appreciable slowdown. I too used Mailwasher at one time. If you are not conformable with it, just go to add/remove programs and remove it.

I also setup a free POP3 email account with Lavabit that I use whenever I must give out an email address. I also changed my primary and secondary email addresses with my ISP using a series of letters and numbers and notified the people I correspond with of the new address. All these steps have cut down the SPAM almost completely.

Below is a link to the Lavabit web site.

Another thing that is a good idea is in your email address list makeup an email address like "[email protected]". This would become the first email address in your list and if your computer gets infected for any reason and attempts to send out SPAM from your system, this email will bounce and you then know the system is infected. Make sure it is first in your address book.

I use Thunderbird as my primary email program.
