It is Premium Guard, but don't believe there's a 100% certainty that's what would be received.what could the PG prefix mean on the PG2500EX?
I am in Canada. We don't have Carquest, etc. With the falling out of the FL500s and Fram Ultras, which of these filters should I buy for the truck:

I have done this twice. If you read the fine print they can subsitute a couple other numbers - different brands. The "various mfr" option lists a PG part number. I've never ordered this option myself though; and believe that there's a chance you could get PG or something else.

PartSource carries a filter called OE Plus. It's just a re-branded Premium Guard EX or Carquest Premium. They're very good, and only cost around $11.
The newer Mobil 1 filters made in Vietnam are also basically the same as the PG, but they seem to have more filter media. They're overpriced at Canadian Tire, but at only $13.60, it's what I'd choose from that list.
