"firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page". I get this quite a bit on my laptop. How can i disable it?

Probably somewhere in the preferences, but are you sure you want to disable it? Depending on what pages are trying to redirect you where, it could be preventing your computer from downloading some nasty stuff.

BTW, you go to preferences, then advanced, then click the box next to "warn me when websites try to redirect the page."

Sounds like you still have some virus/malware that is attempting to redirect you to the site of their choosing. Firefox is just trying to help.

This.

i always click allow and it always goes to the intended site,it never goes anywhere else. For example, when i run update checker, that notice comes up,i click allow, then it allows the intended file to be downloaded. All it is, is a thin banner from left to right,it has no other warnings.

Still doesn't mean you don't have an infection. It could be snooping your surfing habits, among other things.

Yup, agreed.

As Facebook has proven, your habits, your likes and dislikes, are very valuable currency for marketers. Information about what sites you visit, how long you stay there and what you do while you're there helps marketers craft ever-more acute advertising.

In General, it's listed right under "Accessibility"
Erase the check-mark there.

what version are you using dave?
update to version 12 and its where they say it is.

older versions had it hid somewhere goofy.

My Firefox 12 has that option under Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Accessibility. No clue where it is in Firefox 13.

Ok, I didn't notice the "advanced" here. I did have it unchecked already.

Unchecked already and still popping up?

I'm going to be honest man, based on this and the Babylon search thread, your computer is probably seriously messed up. At this point, the best option may be to save everything important, preferably to something like an external hard drive, and reformat the HD and reinstall the OS on the computer. It will put everything back to the default settings and hopefully remove the junk that's on there. Install Avast (free) or another good antivirus and find game websites for your son that are known to be safe. You will lose everything on the HD that isn't saved somewhere else.

Does your computer have a good restore point saved? If not, wiping it clean will probably be the easiest solution at this point. There's no telling what all is on there.

Also, it's probably not a good idea to do any online banking or anything involving your personal info on this computer.
