Ok, so I upgraded phones. I took the 4GB card out of my old Android, which had a bunch of photos on it. I popped that into my new phone and voila! the pictures are there. [Ok, no real surprise.] That said, my phone will support a 128GB card--and it so happens that I have a 64GB card at my disposal. How do I go about moving files from my old card to my new card?

I'm thinking, since it's mostly photos and a couple of downloaded files, that if I unmount the old card, put in the new card, that the phone will format the card for me. Then I can unmount the new card. I can take the old card to my PC, copy files from that to a temp folder, then put in the new card, and put the photos under DCIM, and put downloads under Downloads, and be done.

Right?

[I'll check the other folders for data, see if there is anything I'm missing under other folders.]

The easiest way to go about moving images from your older SD Card to your new one is to leave it in your phone. Mount the phone, i.e. most android phones give you a few options on how you want your phone to behave plugged into your computer, 1. Charge only, 2. allow you to see images, and there is a third option just can't remember. Plug in your phone, allow it to see the hard drive, and go into DCIM folder, (Digital Camera IMage)s most phones store pictures in this folder. Then transfer all of the images you need to your computer. Then Switch to the new SD card and transfer all the images back to the DCIM folder.

So simple even I could do it--that made perfect sense, and gave me the opportunity to check the old phone for any errant files I wanted to copy (didn't find any but still).

Thanks. Only issue left is that my SD card has the wrong name on it, but I can live with that (says "Canon" as it was last used there, but small annoyance).
