Maybe the folks whose money Amsoil is asking for figure they need it. You know, it's guy's like you that'll prevent guys like me from ever spending a dime on your stuff.

Maybe so, but the guy behind that counter is nothing more than a worker bee who has has no real interest in pushing anything. He isn't asking 40 plus bux for his filters either. Regardless, if he had ****'s attitude (which I find typical of retired military. The last thing they should be is in sales) I'd still take my money elsewhere.

And before you get huffy over that you need to know I served in two different branches of the armed forces. You don't see one a vet avatar over my name though.

I am not retired, I was drafted back in 1966. All the lifers (USATC)I encounted when I was in where Aholes and they were proud of it. Maybe times have changed in the military but back when I was there, I hated ever minute of it even though I had one the better assignments in 3rd Army Hosp, brain salad surgery LOL.

As for the Avatar, those were posted for veterans as a way of recognition for their service.

Hey, you set your standards high and thats fine with me. But you also seem look down on what does not meet to your expections.

Somewhere on this site I see the Amsoil dealers represented as Amsoil Reps. That is not the case, they are Independent Dealers, business persons running their own business and do not work for Amsoil in any way. Demanding testing from them is a lot like asking the guy at the parts counter for testing, falls on deaf ears as they have no input on Asmoil products.

In *** I trust-all others bring data-which is why I will gladly let anyone be Amsoil bata and field testers. Just bring us used oil analysis' to back up Amsoil claims.

Mike, I wasn't refering to your being a lifer. I was refering to him. He may be independent but he still "represents" Amsoil from the consumer's viewpoint. Lots of people refuse to do buiness with a firm because of independent bad apples. The insurance and real estate industries come to mind. It's simply human nature. Amsoil still loses. In the end people vote with their money and in this case that money never makes it's way back through the chain to Amsoil.

I don't exactly consider looking down on people with a crappy attitude setting my standards high. Again, human nature.

It's not a big deal though. After all this is an oil site, a place where manly men discuss manly things. An occasional hosing down of the decks with testosterone is inevitable

Fair nuff ****. Yes, I've no doubt Amsoil will survive wthout my (and others) money. I won't deal with it for other reasons anyway ie; price/value, cost/benefit. I'm not a fan of the "Jim says to drink the Kool-Aid" approach used in it's marketing either.

If I ever do decide to use it I'll buy it retail, as I see the products are stocked at several stores in my area. I seriously doubt that'll happen though and I won't feel like it's a loss at all.

chenobylite--
My attitude is that for the last 32 years, AMSOIL has been posting data and publishing comparisons.
In all that time, not a single company whose products were compared has sued for defamation, false advertising, or any similar reason. A number of them have improved their products, so they might not look as bad the next time. Based on that record, I see no real need to personally have the backup paperwork from Southwest Research at my fingertips in case someone wants to know if the product will work well in his Belchfire 88 or other application.
Now, if you percieve this as a crappy attitude, not much I can do about it. I prefer to see it as an attitude that I will eat breakfast tomorrow whether I sell a quart of oil (or an air filter) or not. There is no need to make unwarranted claims--most folks don't believed the warranted ones anyhow.

If you don't want to do business with me, fine. Note that I don't solicit on this board, but encourage folks to contact Paul, Michael or Too Slick (think he is still a sponsor). If you opt not to use AMSOIL because of my attitude, then I feel you are the loser, not me.

Based on my average monthly business activity, I'm happy to say that most of the folks I have talked to or dealt with don't have the same opinion about my attitude.

And, as Mike pointed out, the avatar just appeared by my name one day.

The new AMSOIL filters are being produced in several different plants. Some of them are orange plastic and blue media, others are black and white. Performance and quality are the same in either case, and, far as I can tell, few folks much care about that since they aren't normally visible.

I received my Amsoil Eaa121 air filter this past week. With the exception of the very thick blue filtering media, it looks identical to the Napa Gold 2488 (AC Delco A1518C equivalent), when setting both of them side by side.

The same (84) pleat count and very uncanny exactness of the orange rubber air seal. If I had to pick the manufacturer, would say this filter is made by Wix.

BTW- The blue media looks as though it's enveloped around another paper media- in two stages.

Donaldson has the patents on the "nanofiber filter" technology(as noted by Veterman in one of the first posts in this thread) so no matter who actually manufactures the filters(wix or whatever), the technology must have been licensed from Donaldson.

In my latest "Powder and Bulk Engineering" magazine there are a lot of ads by Donaldson touting their nanofiber cartridge filters (for industrial dust collectors). They provide some testing data. These filters are automatically cleaned a few times every hour by pulsing high pressure air in reverse flow, so they need to be pretty durable. Note that the media is blue, seems like too much of a coincedence compared to the the photos of the Ea filter in the other thread. I think this is definately a case where you cannot tell the quality of the media just by looking at it.

Donalson "Ultra-Web" filters. - The father of the Amsoil Ea filter?

I'd like to see some testing. The info from the Amsoil web site is distracting. I wonder if it's as good as an AC Delco?

vad and LarryL - I understand marketing but why do you and others always call Amsoil out? Why is the bar higher for Amsoil? I included Fram and AC DElco because their marketing crap is pretty much the same.

I have real doubts about biased, unscientific, uncontrolled, non-repeated, non standardized tests such as the "air filter test".
