Amsoil's New Ea Air Filters

I agree.

I have TS fiters sitting here that people ordered and then did not want or returned after they found out the work involved with them. Probably never sell them.

I called Amsoil yesterday and they don't have the new filter for my 03 V8 4Runner or my wife's 05 V6 solara. Bummer

Give it time. They are supposed to have something like 40 line items which will cover most of the mroe popular vehicles. Keep checking back as they just came out.

Just looked up my filter.

Purolator about $5
AC-delco 10.44 or 4.86 for qty. 6
amsoil 29.55

So basically I could buy 6 for the price of the amsoil filter, not bad, but very hard to justify. I'd like to see some third party tests, hopefully of the SAE variety before making that leap.

For what it is worth, or not, the AMSOIL air filter media is based on the Donaldson developments, but is actually a bit improved. Yes, they use Donaldson licensing. No, they aren't identical.

The testing of the filters was done by third party, and the reports claimed by AMSOIL have been documented.

But then, if you don't believe it, or don't plan to keep your car at least 4 years, don't sweat it.

It seems like a really great filter. Yes, they have some marketing mumbo jumbo. Yes, it is not really a "nano" filter. However, it does seem like a filter that filters smaller particles as well as lasting longer than a regular paper filter. Fits right in with AMSOIL's marketing strategy. Too bad they don't have one for my cars.

NO, I don't have any of the testing. Nor do I figure I need any.

Testing was done at SouthWest Research. does that help?

Interesting that Baldwin has been making claims for their truck filter efficiency for some years now, and I've never seen anyone ask for their test figures. Also haven't seen any other filter manufacturers refute the claims.

AMSOIL posts info about the efficiency and life span of the filters, and watch the naysayers leap out.

Let's see. AMSOIL has been around for some 33 years now. Over the years, they've published a whole lot of claims, and published a whole lot of comparison data. Have any of the major oil companies taken issue? No. Why do you suppose?
Have the other oil companies done something about making their products better? You bet.

Could other filter companies make a filter (oil or air) that is as efficient? Sure. Will they?
Not likely--most are still going on the best they can get for $1.

Cool it there buddy. I wasn't digging on Amsoil. The only one "leaping out" is you.

Whenever a company puts out chart like that it puts their product on top, that's why I'd like to see real numbers.

When a company man wants 5X dollars over a very good OEM or PureOne I want to see some real data and lots of it from different sourses. Remember that what is laboratory tested, often doesn't represent the production quality. In addition; an independant testing lab is being paid to test the lab prepared samples and if they want repeat busniess then results can be slanted.

you are talking air filters hear, not life and death parts for the space shuttle or something. You expect a million dollars of testing to sell a $15 oil filter, seems a little over board as it may take them 5 yrs to break even with all the testing costs you want them to do. Who should do all this testing? Consumer Reports, NASA.

Do you demand testing on the booze you drink, the toothpaste, food you eat etc before you buy it.

I'll buy one if Bob or 59 Vetteman get one. Without data, I have a hard time putting aftermarket stuff on my '05 PSD. Ford might not like it..

The EA filter for my Explorer is now in stock and was shipped.

Don't really know what I expected but it looks exactly like a regular filter except the filtering area is powder blue.

You should already have the Donaldson as Factory Stock on your 05PSD. So you have the newest technology in air filtraion.

If they make one for a 2000 Mazda 626 4 cylinder, I will get one and test it. I have 3 oil analysis on that engine and I am ready to do a 4th very shortly.
