A dedicated Amsoil thread and an Amsoil tech person would be really cost effective. I think there are a lot of people just waiting to be talked into another kind of oil.

I like the idea of a dedicated Amsoil section. Then those who do not care about Amsoil would not have to waste their time. But I do find the debates on both sides interesting and educational.
I don't think the Amsoil tech support people would have the time to contribute, but I'll probably talk to one this week and invite him to participate. I'll let you know what they say.

The idea was brought up by Bob many years ago. We decided it was not such a good idea. Frankly - the main reason, unlike the Euro(GC) MOTOR oil section - it would royally suck to have gear oils, motor oils, oil and air filters, cleaners, ATF, etc all in one forum just because they are the same brand.
The problem, as we all know it, with posting on forums, is that someone always takes things out of context. I for one am VERY POOR at explaining things on here. I don't type all that well and of course no one can see or hear how I or others say things.
How many times have topics gotten all bent out of shape??!!
So in the end I think having a company rep just wouldn't turn out all that well. Any company rep for that matter.
Could you imagine having a rep from Mobil 1 on here a month or so ago.
The poor guy would be in a mental institute by now from the bagering he would have recieved!!

I can tell you that Amsoil knows about this board. Matter of fact they used it during a Dealer training coarse that I attended a couple years ago.
I let them know that I was one of the sponsors at that time.
If you want the truth, I don't think that Amsoil Tech would be able to add much that us dealers don't already. Believe me they won't give any secrets and probably are required to give standardized responses.
Anyhow that's how I see it.

I concur - this is exactly what they told me several years ago. But they do know me as "Pablo" at Amsoil HQ now, and know I serve a purpose.
So Pablo is our CORPORATE AMSOIL REP cool.

I'm not really sure what the corporate guys could really add and they're not going to get involved in these "my dad can beat up your dad threads" that seem to appear from time to time. I think the current dealers on the board can handle 95+% of the regular questions out there and you always have the option of having your servicing dealer call Amsoil tech services to ask some really esoteric question if need be.
In some respects the dealers here are more willing to experiment and deviate from the website recommendations and you learn things that way as well. For example, I've been testing some of the synthetic diesel oils and Four Stroke oils (0w-40/10w-30), in gas engine passenger cars, even though you won't find these recommended as primary choices on the website.

No flames, how many would switch to Amsoil products if they could get them at the local parts store? Cousin TeeDub, you are not allowed to answer.

Lot's of guys in my motorcycle clubs have as well. Hundreds of others in the Houston area have at local Napa, CarQuest and motorcycle shops also.
I never stock up on one brand of oil. I like to try different brands. I have an Amsoil PC discount and just recently ordered 9qts of Amsoil ATF. I also have 2 Eao oil filters, one which is on my car now.
The reason I havn't used Amsoil more often and as consistent as some people is the fact that oils have become so much better with the latest API SM spec that I feel confident with the retail stuff. Prior to that, Mobil 1 has always been my favorite oil and a good reason why I never felt it was necessary to order Amsoil. Up until about a year or two ago, I felt they were about the same quality wise...+/- a few things. Mobil 1 is so easy to get and so widely available it's hard to justify ordering oil. I just hope they keep making it the top notch product it always has been. I think this current version isn't as good as it once was all things considered.
