If I were him and had good results with Amsoil like he is I'd stick with it too.

Agree.

The little mechanical noises you hear in any engine is to me notably subdued with the Amsoil Xl over the Mobil 1.

My experience has been the same using Royal Purple( in general not over Mobil 1 which I don't use ). I fully believe what you are hearing and also agree it isn't just new vs old. Oil choice can impact engine noise.

The Mobil 1 SN oils have made the noisy Honda 2.4L silent on cold starts.

Also, at Walmart Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy is $5.79qt per 5qt jug.

I have found obvious cold start noise that lasts a second or two has for me always been filter related. Not oi]l. I don't remember exactly what I pay for Amsoi]l XL but its in the mid $5.00 range. Of course there is shipping involved. But thats ok as I get oil for three or more vehicles at a time plus wiper blades and other lubes.Filters at times also. I hate going into stores to buy this stuff. Big Brown delivers

Be careful!! We have a lot of nervous guys here when it comes to long OCIs. Next thing they will be telling you your engine is sludged up, or worn out, or it can't be so you must work as a under cover agent for XM. Kiddin of course. Well maybe not. Anyway, I know many that have had this kind of success with Mobil 1 oils. Congrats!

Lots of happy campers using M1. I'm sure my vette or other gas burners would last just as long on it as say Amsoil XL. I just noticed the difference a month ago. Took me a while to believe what I noticed. I would have7 been right there saying NAW oil of the same weights can't be noticed like that. BUT it can. Same as the very minor difference7 in 'fine wire plug technology" and big tipped, flat tipped plugs. There is a difference.

In this forum if you are not for Mobil 1 you are for terrorism.

Bash Amsoil all you want but don't even think of making a negative connotation about Mobil 1.

On the flip side I run both products.

I try to be fair myself, but I know what you mean. What I hate is when I make a suggestion and people on here think I work for that company and getting paid to say it. Then you have guys one here which dont hide the fact that they sell a product but when they push a product thats clearly to their benefit, nobody bashes them for it. Their is no incentive for me to favor Mobil and Motul, these two oils have gotten me to 400,000 miles and my dad to a million miles, thats why I favor them. I wish I was getting paid to say so

I have several different oils in several different vehicles, but they do include Amsoil XL and M1.

Between the 2, I'm choosing on 1) if it meets spec/warranty stuff 2) price 3) availability

I run M1 in my Escalade because my dealer does the service while under warranty...I run XL in my jeep because I've had great used oil analysis with the OE and XL lines.

Both great oils

Hehehe.
Well tig if it makes you feel any better I'm going to drop the whole working for mobil stuff.
You seem like a good man,and an asset to the bitog community, and I for one am done with the anti-mobil banter.
Happy new year tig.

That's the spirit! I'm a convert. I used Mobil 1 exclusively for years and years, then was PO'ed buy their tech people and stopped using it. However I had good results with the product. I put that all behind me and started stock piling AFE for two vehicles.

I'm no Mobil fan either but this forum softened me so much I almost bought some hah hah.

Everyone has their preferences which is part of what makes this forum so entertaining, but it's hard to argue with the great results many here have had with M1.

I hate to say it but I "acquired" some AFE 0w-20 to thin my thick stash. Tig's thick skin and never wavering stance had me thinking what can it hurt.
Hehehe.
I might change my tune once my engine get "noisy" using that darned mobil 1 but for now I'm dropping it.
Live and let live

Same here the one time I tried it, the M1 was "clattery" for lack of a better word. Nearly bought some anyway for the new KIA as loud or not I'm sure it protects just fine. But I just scored Gold bottle Edge on AAP BOGO for less than M1 at Wally's, and the Gold Edge was what I really wanted anyway.

"Almost" hah hah.

I used M1 exclusively for many years. But in the last 7 years I haven't bought it.
It made my Mazda engines a bit noisy. So I switched. Plus around that time I joined BITOG. And since joining I find enjoyment in trying out all kinds of different oils. I've ran almost every house brand and almost every high end, expensive brand. In defense of M1 I will say that it kept my 98 Jeep XJ 4.0 engine SPOTLESS. Its an excellent oil.
As soon as my NAPA syn is all used up I'm gonna try Pennzoil synthetic. In all my years here I have yet to run any Pennzoil oil. Not out of dislike, just haven't got around to it yet.
