Amsoil OE 5w30 is $18.65 gallon.

Is it? Maybe with a 5-finger discount

I wish I could upload an image, because then you'd see what I see: http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/mo.../?code=OEFQT-EA

27.95 per gallon. So M1 at Walmart is significantly cheaper ($20 per gallon).

No theft involved. Suggested Retail price is $27.95. PC price is $18.65.

What is an Amsoil PC price? I guess preferred customer. So math:

$19 per gallon
$19 (two changes per year)
$20 membership
====
$58 / 2 == $29 per gallon oil. At least that's how it works-out for my car. I wish I could run Amsoil, as it appears to be a quality product, but for my lifestyle (and probably many others) the M1 or PP at walmart is cheaper ($20/gallon)

I suppose if one is doing one or two oil changes a year on a small vehicle, the Amsoil thing might not be advantageous from the pricing standpoint. But many that use the products use them for many applications and that volume brings things to ballpark pricing with most major brands on the shelf, even factoring in the PC fee. Which by the way, is $15 a year if one does the auto renewal option. Might have been a promotional thing, but I opted for it when I renewed about a month ago. Just one of many brands of oils, greases, lubes I use. I am not a loyal follower of any brand, just get what fits my needs the best depending on the application.
