Amsoil Synthetic Blend Engine Oils

No one is silly enough to buy 5 individual quarts (and pay those prices) for a full oil change when there are 5 qt jugs right next to those bottles. Nice try though.
Who in their right mind buys oil by the quart for their oil changes when most cars have at least a 4/4-1/2 quart sump?

Speaking of which, why doesn’t amsoil offer 5 quart jugs at a discounted rate like all the other oil companies?
Agree 100%. Amsoil syn blend is comparable price wise. Quality oil by an independent US company.

Again, apples to oranges. You cannot compare a "synthetic blend" that wasn't formulated to D1G3 standards to an oil that is.

You're essentially advocating for someone to pay more money for less performance -- it literally makes zero sense to buy this product unless it is your personal mission to support your Amsoil dealer.

Not being D1G3 is a positive in my book. If your performance standard is D1G3 your bar is pretty low considering some syn blends are on the list. I have no skin in the game as I don’t use syn blend and could care less about dexos.

I think Valvoline also makes a syn blend that's d1g3 rated. Exact reason why I didn't care for dexos and went to whatever was 3.5+ hths and euro approved at a good price.

Well, I beg your pardon - looks like Amsoil Blend IS formulated to meet Dexos 1 Gen 3.

Although I am less concerned about licensing on out of warranty vehicles, I am still unconvinced that this product delivers comparable or better performance than other $25-$30/5-qt jug oils at Walmart, namely Mobil 1 EP.

I am not impressed with the NOACK Numbers, others will say that it does not matter. I would like a NOACK test from a lower Temperature.

I wish the numbers were more detailed/transparent. Dexos requires 12.5% loss or less and they have the noack listed as <=12.5% for all grades which doesn’t tell us much except that it meets the bare minimum

I like QTS when the deal is the same
I hate gallon jugs-5 qt only
I never understood fighting and making a stand over products you don't buy
I only buy quarts.

I save my money ( and time ) by not changing the oil every 3000 miles.

Following the OLM versus every 3000 miles has saved me about $3000.00 USD on oil changes. I drive a lot ( lived in condo until 2 years ago ).

Edit: Even if changing the oil every 3000 miles would have prevented the oil consumption issue ( no data to back that claim up ) , I am still further ahead adding oil versus replacing all of it every 3000 miles ( oil consumption is stable, has not got worse ). Soon I won’t even be changing it ( annually ) and will save even more money with automatic oil changes 🙂

This is my concern as well.
The NOACK Test is done at 482 Degrees Fahrenheit, I have a big problem with this test, it is not realistic. I will do the Lawnmower thing; I aimed an Infrared Gun at the Spark Plug area on a Briggs engine and I got a temp reading of 300. I did a temp reading with a probe in the oil fill hole and only got a temp of 210. This is on an Air-cooled Engine with what I am talking about. This is not on a water-cooled engine, let's talk lawnmowers again. I have a neighbor with a Water-Cooled Engine on his mower that only has an oil temp of like 190 whereas with my air-cooled riding mower I have a temp of 220 with the Thermal Probe.

If the HTHS Test can be done at 300, let's do the NOACK Test at a more reasonable Number.
