Amsoil Synthetic Blend Engine Oils

They can do what they want, it’s their business and I don’t blame them for trying to branch out - especially when most major oil brands have everything from synthetic to maple syrup - BUT this brand’s forte is 100% Synthetic. I doubt they’re going to be selling much “blend” at $8 something a quart.

Be hard to find another company with the number of automotive products that Amsoil markets …

Yeah, I guess I was more talking about oil only, didn’t consider their greases and tranny fluid, undercoating, etc. But you’re right, didn’t think about that.

I looove how descriptive the viscosity is.... At least they give an hths figure though it's low for all of them.

Kinematic Viscosity @ 100ºC, cSt 6.9-9.3(0w-20) 6.9-9.3(5w-20) 9.3-12.5(5w-30)

These syn blend oils seem like a joke. Do they really think we'd spend 8.50 a quart on this? Even if you get a gallon jug with the preferred price you're still a sucker.

This is weird…Amsoil used to sell a semi-syn 10W-40 about 20 years ago that they dropped bc they were focusing on being a ‘synthetic only’ oil company.
Now, they are back to selling it…seems kinda pointless given that ‘most’ newer cars take some kind of synthetic oil…

Listen - I can't exactly understand it, justify it or support the decision - and I doubt I will sell much. But still I will stand behind the oil as necessary. Some of this new stuff just rolls out all at the same time, no previous warning for DJ's or Dealers.

I don't understand either what market Amsoil is directly shooting for - maybe otherwise filling out the full line up or showing that they cover the full range of base oils. The 5W-30 is the least interesting, but the XW-20's are, so maybe focus on those rather than poking fun at Amsoil or its customers.

It came out because their marketing department said it should come out. Are they right, are they wrong? You dont know.

If I speculated, its supposed to be a value product.

It could be for the benefit of the installer market. To be considered for all of a lube center's/garage's/car dealer's oil business, offering a lower priced, Dexos-API-ILSAC product is a huge advantage. In my experience, many, if not most lube buyers want to purchase from one source.
