Amsoil Severe Gear or HPL?

At negative temps I can tell that the transfer feels darn near froze. My last few runs have been amsoil and motul and things moved much easier when cold.
Which Motul?

How do you notice? Lack of power? We get pretty cold temps too but haven't really noticed any changes.

Schaeffers is what’s currently in it. Motul mineral was what was replaced, amsoil before that. The transfer is just downright lethargic until I’ve got 5-10 miles on it. I didn’t experience this with amsoil. When I let off the gas I can feel the drivetrain pulling things down. While not technical by any means. I took a qt of schaeffers and amsoil and left it outside with temps down to -3. The amsoil definitely will pour easier than schaeffers. I’ll be going back to amsoil 80-90 when things warm up.

I just watched a video that shows the opposite @-49 degrees. The schaeffers flowed much quicker than severe gear 75-90. Now I’m really confused lol.

You don't have enough evidence to support the theory honestly. Schaeffer and Amsoil both make quality products.

No doubt they do. I use their oil quite often and I’m a big fan. This is just a personal observation. The transfer only holds 8 ounces or so and pulverizes the oil pretty fast, so I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s thickened. Nissan recommends 20k severe service and I’m probably 3/4 of the way there.

Well I ordered all the transmission and gear oils from Amsoil. Always more expensive than I think it should. But there are 2 differentials, a transmission and transfer case.

At 160,000 miles maybe it's the last gear oil change for the differentials.
