Amsoil Series 2000

Asmoil series 2000 75w-90 is rated very highly on this board. But I see that the flash point is only 388ºF and the Noack Volatility is much higher than the Amsoil engine oils. Why is the flashpoint significantly lower than many other synthetic gear oils?
 
Anyone using the Series 2000 75w-90? How would you compare the performance of the series 2000 to other synthetic gear oils?
 
I have it in the front and rear of my 2001 GMC Ext Cab Z71 SLT and also in the rear of my 2002 Firebird TA WS6.

I have used nothing else since it came out. I have no idea how it compares as I would not consider using anything else.

Test data for Series 2000 looks excellent. I haven't seen better gear oil in terms of low temperature viscosity. All other test results beat Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube 75W-90. Some people here reported that they used S2000 with a great success. I think, just by looking at the data on paper, that Amsoil probably makes best gear oils on the market. Amsoil's regular 75W-90 has good reputation as well. Redline 75W-90 supposedly very good also. I'm using Mobil 1 because it has convienient bottles and easy to get. I do think that series 2000 is a bit overpriced.

As far as performace of gear oil - I'm pretty sure that it would make no difference whenever you use Amsoil, Redline, or Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil. Amsoil might just be more suitable for extended drains compared to Redline and Mobil 1. I was thinking of switching from Mobil 1 to Amsoil or Redline next time but decided to stay with M1 for the next gear lube change. I just want to see how long and how well will Mobil protect. I'm pretty sure that it would last at least as long as Redline.

I'm using the Amsoil 80W-90 in my rear axle on my 1995 Ford Truck. Definately noticed engagement and acceleration alittle bit smoother when changing fromt the O.E.M. fluid to the synthetic at 60k (yeah i know i waited too long

). The old fluid had bubbles in it and smelled terrible. I guess thats what happens when you pull trailiers, and drive 90+ mph for long periods of time on dino gear lubes.

Amsoil says the fluid is fill for life, but I will change it again at 120,000 miles to compare against my O.E.M. fluid and verify that synthetics are better in extended drains.
 
04 2500 Dodge Quad Cab 4x4, 6 spd manual, 3.73 rear, HO Cummins.

Believe it or not Dodge Schedule B Maintenance calls for changing the MOPAR synthetic 75w-90, frt & rear ends out every 15k miles.

I changed mine over to Amsoil Series 2000 75w-90 at 6800 miles. Yes, it's a little expensive and you could go with the Amsoil 75w-90 synthetic to save money...I like the Green color of the Series 2000. Haven't noticed any mpg gain, but driveline is quieter and I would presume the rear end is running cooler and I won't have to change frt and rear end oil every 15k.

The Transfer case got Amsoil ATF and the 6spd got Redline MTL. Amsoil recommends engine oil in the transmission and I disagreed with that recommendation...

I would have to differ on the statement above that Amsoil makes the best gear oils out there. I have tried them, for me RedLine makes a better gear oil but each vehicle is diffrent and only trying the oil in your rear end or transmission will test it.

The regular Amsoil gear oil, not the 2000, is pitiful, that is a statement issued by several Amsoil dealers I have spoken with. They suggest removing it from the market entirely.

What is so pitiful about it? Be more specific.

My 80w90 is 11 years old and 100k in my 92 toyota rear and still looks like new. It is still up to the fill hole.
