I have a 2002 Tacoma V6 and ive been using redline 5W30 pretty much the life of the truck (50K) and just recently i swithced over to amsoil 5W30 and now i want to switch again. Whats best between the AMSOIL Series 2000 (0W30) and the Series 3000 (5W30) for extended drain intervals? Since Series 2000 thickens alittle how well does the Series 3000 hold up? Ive been changing the oil every 5K because of warrenty issues and now that the warrenty is about over i want to extend the OCI. Thanks.

What drain intervals are you using? I'd save the money and use Mobil 1. You will see NO difference at all and would be better off with M1 IMO. All Amsoil oils thicken and were on the thick side of the 30wt scale. I'd chose the S2k over the 3k in this engine if I were to use Amsoil.

Lots of good oils to choose from that'll reach 7-8K OCIs... including German Castrol. Sold only at Auto Zone. If you decide on Mobil 1, buy the Extended Performance oils.
Of the choices you mentioned, I would go with the S3000. It is shear stable and will do an excellent job of keeping your engine clean.
I would go with the the thinnest 30wt you can find in the 3.4. Extra viscosity does nothing for this engine.
It does depend on your OCI - how many miles do you drive per year?
I would go with ASL 5w30 if you plan on 10-15K intervals. It's cheaper than M1 if you become a preferred customer.

The main issue with toyotas is excessive nitration,due to the very high cylinder head temps and shearing due to the gear driven, exhaust cams.
Both these oils will work well here, but Id go with the more robust, S3000, 5w30.
Either of these oils should be good for 15k or 1 year in this application, with a filter change and topoff halfway through.

Series 3000 5W30 is going to be the best oil from Amsoil for this Toyota. The S3K has the beefiest additive package offered by Amsoil and it has the same base stock technology used int he S2K. It is a bit thicker then the S2K 0W30 but I think that is a good thing and Toyota's like a 30Wt. with a solid HTHS and Cst.
Regular amsoil was cheaper but since im going with either the series 3000 or 2000 its now going to be alittle more expensive.
