Amsoil now recommends Subaru's 3,750 mi. turbo OCI

I'm not sure how this is an oil issue. If this is the screen I'm thinking of, it's the pressure side inlet of the turbo. Any single or dual ball bearing turbo requires this screen. Aftermarket manufacturers won't even provide a warranty unless you buy a new filter with turbo purchase. With the older journal bearing units they weren't necessary.

If it's just regular debris that's plugging filters, maybe it's time for an EAO to assist.

Gary,
That's inferior Vena cava, not the aorta. This is probably the only time I can correct you on this site! You know way more about oil than I...

Sorry ...some of my copycat rhetoric erodes in the chemical electrical suspension.

Dennis,

I'm still here, just a bit busy at work lately.

Yes, I'm still running the Rotella 10W-30. Someone else in this thread questioned the need for a Synthetic for a 3750 mi. OCI. I agree. Also, when Mr. Dyson recommends an oil over GC for a turbo Subaru, I listen. :-)

TeeDub,

7500 miles was certainly fine with a good synthetic in my '03 WRX, but, the 2L engines don't have the screen. I understand that this screen was added in part for the variable valve timing on the 2.5L engines.

Thank you. I wonder why it required a TSB

That is, the designer of the screen didn't see a need for PM of this item ..for whatever reason. Hard to imagine that it would be an oversight. One would think that this would have been endurance tested to a very stressed level before releasing it to the market ..given the capabilities of the engine.
