I'm not sure how this is an oil issue. If this is the screen I'm thinking of, it's the pressure side inlet of the turbo. Any single or dual ball bearing turbo requires this screen. Aftermarket manufacturers won't even provide a warranty unless you buy a new filter with turbo purchase. With the older journal bearing units they weren't necessary.
