I can pretty much say that Donaldson is NOT making the AMSOIL branded car and light truck filters.

Sometimes you have to spend a bit mnore time, a bit more energy, and a bit more brainpower to get a better product than you find at those run-of-the-mill discount stores.
Is tomorrow the day? Any new word on availability dates? I really need to order some oil, but I'm holding out in hopes that these filters will be available when I do place my order.

Why? Amsoil's marketing plan is outdated. Having a middleman as a "dealer" just adds to the cost to the consumer. If Amsoil really wanted to make money, they would squash the dealer network and sell direct to the mass retailers

i got mine today. Supposidly im the first in the nation. I got them right as they became availible today at 3 pm pacific time. Normal release is tomorrow morning. 11.50 for preferred and dealer accounts.
WHats the price vs their SDF line? I just ordered an Ea009 for my Camry, but part of their website with prices was not working.
Ea009 is $15.10 list, $11.50 preferred customer.

It's always been the case of major W*T*F with the Mobil 1 oil filters too.
It's not like I'm unhappy with Motorcraft FL2005.
But still once in a while I'm in a mood to get a filter with some hi-perf "synthetic" media in it and for whatever reason it's been always unavailable.

so say i buy 5 qts of amsoil 5w30 and a filter for my dodge neon (i would use the filter for a ram v-6/v-8) and i put it in my car i can safely change it at 15000 mile intervals and not have to do anything (except maybe add a little oil) between mile 1 and mile 15000? just checking to make sure i am understanding this correctly.

This is a "self correcting" thing here, Michael. If you do 25k a year ...you're operating the vast majority of you time in the least combustion byproduct producing mode of operation. You can't, typically, do 25k a year without being at a steady state operating mode for a good bit of the time. Hence you're left with a significantly lower gms/mile of filter contaminants to capture and load your filter. That is, the mileage becomes a nonfactor ..and you're up against the time limit.
For most of us ..is there really a difference between 15k/1 year and 25k/1 year ??? Aren't both of them (and everyone in between) still looking at one year?? One contributes a higher rate of filter loading ..but less miles. One contributes more miles ..at a lower rate of filter loading.
(this is, btw, the same rational that I think supports a blind 6 month OCI for the vast majority of the population, given the current quality level of oils, filters, and engine fuel managment in the absense of "severe duty")

I just got my Ea009 filter for a 94 Camry. You can see the differences when looking at it compared to a SDF filter. It was $11.50 (preferred buyer). Other SDF filters vary in price, some are this expensive. So its not a lot more. Now to decide to go 12K or 25K miles?
