It pains me to say they’ve lost their way. I have a few posts about their cartridge style filters having adhesive on their clean side. I still have some old stock of the canister filters (including the 15k09) that I’m going to use. But I am not going to buy more until they remedy the issues I have seen. I have told them multiple times via email I want them to succeed, but am not going to buy their products until they fix whatever is making them lose the premium product caliber.
That's sad to hear. I have the canister style coming to me. I'm only running 5K mile intervals with the filters. They used to be a solid, dependable filter above average quality.
Agreed. That’s why I used them for so long! I thought the filter I had with the adhesive was a one off. Unfortunately not.
Sloppy workmanship is apparent throughout the oil filter industry. It's tricky when trying to narrow down a solid reliable filter that can handle 10K mile plus filtration when someone like myself drives 120 miles a day 95% highway, no stopping commutes. My miles are not harsh at all and I can run 7K to 10K miles with no worries. I just need an oil filter that can fulfill my needs. AMSOIL still carries a reputable reputation for durability. What a shame things are like today.
I’ve got a couple c&p’s from a few weeks ago. One filter media size was larger than the same model number cousin despite being the same exact exterior dimensions. One collected quite a bit of carbon. The other did a decent job too. With that said, I cannot say the filters did not have the same well documented leaf spring issues regardless of media collection.

Amsoil doesn't actually make their own oil filters, as they are contracted out to a major filter maker. Currently, they seem to be made by Champion Labs. Don't know how their filter supplier history has changed over the years. Maybe @Pablo might know.
I used to be a HUGE Amsoil/WIX fanboi. Their filters have both gone to sh*t quality given change of ownership (Wix), and poor manufacturing by a subcontractor (Amsoil). These are both objective and empiric experiences I am drawing on to make that prior statement. I used to LOVE anything Amsoil. Unfortunately I cannot speak to the quality of their oils as I told them their QC in filter acceptance has made me question their entire product lineup level of acceptance. As I've said before, I take no pleasure in this sentiment and I hope Amsoil corporate finds their way back to what made them the premier brand they used to be.
This may be true. When a product is substandard, and it is brought to the attention of the company without redress it speaks to a negative change in the corporate culture. When zero drive for improvement is there, trust is eroded. I no longer trust them given this.
Yes, except the new definition of "shining star" is quality that matched a $4, average filter 4 years ago.
